Hey guys I have a question:

Where do you buy your electronics (in particular the large Toggle Switches) for a reasonable price? I don't want milspec, since I don't see the need of it, but I struggle to find some cheap big Toggle Switches. Maybe some of you could give me some advice.

Hello, welcome to the site.

It is in the US, but I get most of my parts at All Electronics. You never know what you will find at Electronic Surplus stores like it. There are other sources and others will be along to share.

My switches are NKK; got them from mouser (all several hundred of them). More expensive than the cheap stuff you get from ebay but I've also had no problems. Less expensive than OTTO or the other mil-spec that want $100+ per.

Tearing the pit down to fix a bad wire or faulty switch is such a pain in the aft end it was worth the investment.

Thanks for the quick answers!

Hello, welcome to the site.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

If you're in the UK, switchelectronics.co.uk is where I've been getting mine. Not too pricey and they've got most of the bases covered.

This looks the most promising for now. Will save it for late thanks for the help to you all.

EBay

That's where I get mine from. You can get various sizes, and single and double pole. I have bought good small and large on-on, small and large on-off-on, and large (mom)on-off-(mom)on toggle switches. The large ones with double pole can be a bit bulky at the back, so unless you need the double pole for a specific reason go for the single pole versions

If I have had a problem, it has been getting on-on-on toggle switches, the only ones on Ebay are the small (14MM square) variety, and some sellers will send you on-off-on ones instead. However the guys on here have come up with things like Rsmapper to enable you to use on-off-on switches instead, so you don't have to worry

Hope this helps

Why do you need on-on-on? If you set up an on-off-on as a voltage divider it can behave the same way. Edited by electricaltill

As you are in the EU-neighborhood, you might want to take a look at

I have yet to get RsMapper to work. If anyone can explain this stuff as simply as possible, it is always appreciated by those underachievers like myself.

May I ask why not simply describe what you are recommending to him and how to use it? Not everyone speaks electrons, some are severely dense when it comes to such things...

Good question, and you may ask it.

That's a good idea, it's exactly what I was going to do. But I thought I'd first ask if there's some reason he has to do it "his" way so I'm not wasting both of our times with an explanation.

Indeed, I am one of them!
