I assume if I follow the instructions from vr4dcs.com, I'd be ok, right?

So can I expect this to help smoothing out the issue I described above?

Absolutely. That is exactly what is is for. Without Reprojection only time you will have smooth gaming is when the computer is able to deliver 90fps without dropping below at anytime.

Reprojection give you smooth gaming between 90 and 45 fps.

Below 45fps there will be stutter or non-smooth gaming anyway.

Its good to use the steam software fpsVR when tuning the settings(both WMR/Steam and DCS to find the balance that suits your personal reference. As for today it is not possible in DCS to enjoy maximum graphic settings and smooth gaming in the same time regardless of hardware.

Excellent! Thanks guys

I'm actually really amazed by my system's performance with the Reverb. I'm actually getting much better framerates than with my Rift cv1 (which required PD1.4). And now you guys tell me that the only "stutter" I did notice with the Reverb, will be smoothed out by motion reprojection

I'm so happy with my purchase! I was already fond of DCS, but this opens up a whole new world of enjoyment. I mean, without having to zoom in, I can even read texts on de moving map in the F/A-18C cockpit for Pete's sake :surprise:

so i can tell you that my experience is smooth for me; YMMV... but as Gunnars_Driver says thats the purpose of Motion Reprojection, you need to play with your settings but you should be able to get better eye candy than me, depending on your processor overclock

Both my cpu and gpu are still running on stock speed and if not needed, I rather don't mess around with that. It seems I don't have to either, because I've tried several heavy missions (both SP and MP) and my fps counter didn't went under 45

Love seeing these posts from folks that appreciate VR for what it is, no matter the device used.

When it is working well, there is nothing like it.

I have had Rift CV1 for 3 years. I have had decent hardware and tuned it so it delivered good frame rates. Still, I have seen a little stuttering and now and then ghosting.

Now I use the Reverb and there more or less no stutter and absolutely non ghosting at all.

The frame rate is of course a combination of hardware and the choosen settings, so I cant really say that I have a higher fps with the reverb. My goal was to tube it to not go below 45 fps other than in very rare cases.

So I followed the steps on vr4dcs.com to set motionreprojection to "auto". I didn't however notice anything about it during gameplay. Still having un-smooth (is that a word?) visuals when looking at the ground and doing a fast roll. Even though my fps counter shows 70-90fps.

Can I check somewhere if motionreprojection is actually on?

I see a SteamVR screenshot on vr4dcs.com that shows motionreprojection status, but now that Steam made the settings look all fancy and stuff, I can't find this status anywhere.

If you turn on the indicator, you will see small coloured boxes in the top left corner of the left eye which indicate status of re-projection.

Like this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/images/mvlsrindicator.png

To turn on the indicator, remove the // from the following as well:

// “motionReprojectionIndicatorEnabled” : true,

New VR Simpit: Intel 10700K, MSI Seahawk X 1080Ti (waiting for 3080Ti or 3090), 32 GB 3600MHz RAM, HP Reverb, TM Warthog

If your counter is showing 70-90fps, then motion reprojection isn't turned on. When its turned on, the FPS counter should show a pretty stable 45 or 30 FPS (half of whatever refresh rate you have selected for your Reverb). Can you post your vrsettings file from Steam VR for WMR here so we can take a look at it?

Here's my "default.vrsettings" file (I renamed it to .txt to be able to attach here)

My Steamapps folder is not in the default location "Program Files (x86)". Could that be problem?

I installed all Steam apps in my games folder:

C:\Games\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\resources\settings

default.txt

Huh?

I don't understand. I did do that yesterday and I'm sure I saved it (Didn't check again just now that I uploaded it)

Is it possible that it gets reverted for some reason?

I try again as soon as I get the chance

I have only had it revert once, and that was because of the major changes to SteamVR for WMR that happened a few weeks ago. Once you verify that your change has been saved, make sure to shut everything down related to your Reverb. Next, you may or may not need to unplug your Reverb (I never leave mine plugged in at the connector on the headset itself), and then shut down SteamVR, SteamVR for WMR (if running), and WMR itself. When you plug your headset back in, it should automatically run WMR, and then you can start DCS to have it automatically load SteamVR and SteamVR for WMR again. You have to do the shut-down/restart steps after making any changes to your VRsettings file because SteamVR for WMR only runs that file when it starts up.

Yes, it works just fine for editing simple files like the vrsettings config file. It worked just fine for that a decade ago too...and the decade before that. Its all a matter of personal preference, and nobody said anybody "needed" anything.

Using HP reverb

Guys, I am new to computers and simulation. I am a pilot and wanted to enjoy DCS world. I have an Alienware Aurora R9, intel core i7-9700, 16 GB mem, 512 ssd, 1 TB HDD, NVIDA Geforce RTX 2080 Super 86B Graphics card and windows 10, and I have gone through Oculus Quest and Rift S and never could get the game loaded. I switched to the Hp Reverb and I am having the same problem. The game wont load. I am using the newest version of DCS non-steam and have loaded this version into my steam library but no success. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
