Since this is now DCS and no longer LOMAC is there a possibility of land or even sea units being added into the sim? Looking at the DCS banner I got the impression that it's been thought about.

It is certainly a possibility, but as with all other "flyables" their inclusion depends on a lot of factors that are not under ED's control.

Oh no!! I hope ED never cease making flight simulators!! If Tanks and other stuff come from an independient team branch and airplanes don't affect it, then OK, else it would be a shame!

Adding an improved version of the debug feature (that lets you control vehicles) and simple sights like on the FAC simulator could definitely be fun. Not realistic but fun...

True - I'd like to see a layered air combat sim develop first - but once there is something there to fill most roles (2*chopper, 2*Ground pounder, 2*multi-role, 2*air superiority) :

Then - there has been a lot of call for the ability to control some of the short range mobile air defence units & including an inbuilt ATC module might not be a bad idea + maybe a battle tank each side ?

At 9 months per unit that would take about 4 - 6 years (depending on where they are with the A-10 & AH-64) to get the full complement of aircraft before ground units get started on - the engine should be up to it by then :-)

Cheers.

with the Tornado you'll have the ECR,IDS,GR4 and the F [4?] with GER/GBR/IT and the Royal Saudi AF in the game..

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

First, F/A-18, Tornado, F-15E, F-14 and Mig-29SMT. Then ED can just do what they want

lol - So you'd quite like the releases to go red, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue and then red ? (Ka-50, A-10, AH-64, F/A-18, Tornado, F-15E, F-14, Mig-29SMT)

I understand the Ka-50 - it's already built - but why is the Mig in there ?

Just to keep people from saying the wish list is developing a bias ?

Acedy - AWAC / GCI / ATC - if they can be assigned to a particular radar in game then one module would probably cover all 3 wouldn't it ?

Cheers.

It's only a joke. Of course, I would like to see all of them in DCS, but I already know that is impossible. I like a lot MFD-Airplanes, so Su-27/Su-25/Su-17/Mig-23/Mig-25/Mig-27 and so on aren't of my top wish list obviously.

Perhaps down the DCS road, but right now we are focused on the air component. One step at a time. :)
Down the road...?

How long is the expected lifespan of this series? I mean, graphics engines and other technology tends to get outdated so quickly now days. Maybe 3-5 years, then start over? Or will the technology used be flexible enough to change with the times?

how old is LOMAC and see how many mods it has.

The stated intention (but not promise :-) is to upgrade the 'Engine' as the modules are rolled out, but allow owners of previous modules to upgrade for free to the new technologies so that all users remain compatible online. Seems a very sensible way to do it to me that ensures that ED don't end up with a fragmented community that only takes the aircraft ( or possibly not aircraft in the future) they want & doen't keep up with upgrades.

For example the A-10 might hypothetically bring DX-10 and the AH-64 could add full multi-core supprt & new areas of map. All DCS module owners could then patch to the new technological standard & maintain one online community.

If that is how it happens then there will be no fixed technology to become outdated - the 'engine' will be a continual WIP at some level & should grow with the machines available.

It's the scorpion upgrade that I think a few countries have taken...

Interesting, of course I know that this is a flight sim at the moment but with this module design DCS could become a universal simulator in the future with people purchasing new units depending on their personal tastes.
