Guys, has anyone of you in this thread tried to disable object shadows?

On my computer this helps massively (in Kutaisi 15 frames versus stable ASW'd 45 frames)!

I don't even have shadows turned on. In my experience, it's always been a considerable performance hit. My aim for VR is 80 fps, with MSAA, with not much going on. This is almost impossible anyway - but it means I have to turn almost everything else off. The 2.5.6 updates have made it even harder - I now have to lose MSAA for equivalent performance. For missions with the AI issue - forget it!

Shadows has always been turned off for me as they used to create a big fps drop anyway. Now I am at the point where even with them off the frame rates are terrible.

Today I noticed that I get steady 45fps (basically what I had in 255) in my Caucasus training mission when I fly the Yak-52, but just 20-30ish, sometimes even less in the F-16, just as it has been in the last few versions, also with: JF-17, F-14, AJS-37, AV-8, P-51, UH-1 and Ka-50 (haven't flown those in the new ver yet, that was the two versions before). Rates go down in external views as well, so it's not cockpit related.
