quick q: i noticed in the mission editor and F10 menu that some SAMs have not only a red and yellow circles but a green one as well, which i haven't noticed before. can someone describe the color codes for threat circles?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the green circle is the minimum engagement range.

 

weird thing is most dont have a green circle. does that mean most SAMs dont have minimum engagement zones

It is the WEZ of a secondary weapons system, I.E. guns on the Tunguska.

Green circle shows minimum ranges. Not only for SAM, but for mortars and artillery etc. as well.

The circle does not account for minimum engagement height of SAMs... e.g. most of the long range SAMs have trouble engaging a Huey flying at 10-15ft AGL, so they need close range AAA or similar for protection...

 

EDIT: btw the yellow circle is the detection range, when they can track you.
