Ignition Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Is it possible to use them? They fly in circles.
sirPecka Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 It is not, since it's MITL weapon you need to provide terminal guidance yourself. So you need the datalink pod. Sent from my WAS-LX1 using Tapatalk
Grodlund Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Someone seemed to imply that only one aircraft in your flight needs to have the pod though. So your friend can launch and you, yourself can provide terminal guidance? Can anyone confirm or deny? amalahama Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Doesn't it aim to GPS coordinates in case of MITL pod missing?
shaHeen-1 Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Doesn't it aim to GPS coordinates in case of MITL pod missing? it might be able to but that would just get it banned on all MP servers. You can already hit Kutaisi directly all the way from Beslan lol

I read somewhere that you can do that, but never tried, maybe we need DIS to answer that question
AeriaGloria Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I read somewhere that you can do that, but never tried, maybe we need DIS to answer that question The pod can control up to TWI missiles. So you can control someone else’s missiles, as long as only two need to be controlled at once and they are all within range and aspect parameters. As for “GPS” coordinates it only has INS, so it can technically go for coordinates but INS and being used as a long range cruise missile even if the radar altimeter would cooperate it wouldn’t be very accurate Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
Shrike88 Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 +1 Was wondering about this even in DIR mode with a Coordinate I figured it would fly to that point with its own INS, however yes just flies in circles. Havent tested MITL with a wingman of multiple flights with only one aircraft carrying a buddy pod. Will have to test and verify we are all on the same Link Group
[VFA-106] Glacier Posted April 1, 2020 Posted April 1, 2020 If my missile can be controlled by my flight lead's datalink pod, then what happens when I have my own datalink pod and we're fighting for control of the same missile? It seems like there would have to be some cross-reference between missile and datalink pod. Shrike, we should try that out some night.
