Avalanche110 Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Having the ability to set AI aircraft exterior lights to on or off in the ME. this would make night missions much more practical and would go nicely with the recent updates to night lighting. A good example of this would be night time AAR. presently theirs no way to control the tankers external lights and they are default off.
Kang Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Don't their lights come on when you contact them with 'intent to refuel'? It used to be like that at least. Doesn't mean at all that I wouldn't like a built-in trigger command for lights on or off in the ME, that would definitely be nice.
Avalanche110 Posted April 4, 2020 Author Posted April 4, 2020 Yes. But only within about half a mile. Since 2.5.6 aircraft have been highlighted at night by “white lights” at a range of 20 miles. (Which looks pretty good and is very useful) Then at about 7 miles, that effect disappears and they completely black. Then at 1 mile, the tanker flicks it’s lights on. Having a ME option might smooth out some of these transitions.
Northstar98 Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 +1 Would love that feature, not just for AAR. Perform Command -> Set Lights -> Position/Navigation/Formation etc. Might even be useful, if feasible to have blackout zones. As for the 2.5.6 thing with the white light then completely black and back again, is probably a WIP issue. Veritech Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Lightning should be applied to cities and towns as well. I don't expect to have any of them up during a war! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Alis Aquilae Aut Pax Aut Bellum" Veritech's DCS YouTube Channel
Saigon Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 (edited) We have been waiting for this function for years. We hope they seriously consider doing something about it. For example, I find it absurd that during a night attack mission the AI wingman keep the lights on. Could Ed not fix this? Edited April 8, 2020 by Saigon Intel I5-8600 3,1GHz. Sedlo Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 In the latest Open Beta, when I turn off my lights, my wingman will also turn off his nav lights. The flashing strobe and formation lights remain, but the nav lights now seem to turn off. I didn't think that worked before, so maybe we're getting closer. I think that has been something that's been around for a while, I definitely see it in the 2.5.5 stable (wingmen generally copy pretty much everything I do) I'll get back to you.
