Nealius Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 (edited) One common issue I run into with user-created missions and campaigns is tanker speed. They're always either too slow or too fast. In DCS we have a mix of fast movers (F-15 and F-16) and slow movers (A-10) who use the boom, but the tankers will only fly whatever programmed speed they're given in the ME. This simply doesn't work when standard refueling speed is 275kts for the fast guys and something like 220-230 for the slow guys. You would need to set two different tankers dedicated to each aircraft type. Additionally, many mission creators don't know the proper refuel speeds, so having an automated system in place would help prevent problems with that as well. Instead the tanker should slow/accellerate to proper refuel speed for the receiving aircraft when the player or client requests rejoin. Edited April 11, 2020 by Nealius 1
Eagle7907 Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Excellent idea. Ran into this problem a couple of times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Win 10, AMD FX9590/water cooled, 32GB RAM, 250GB SSD system, 1TB SSD (DCS installed), 2TB HD, Warthog HOTAS, MFG rudders, Track IR 5, LG Ultrawide, Logitech Speakers w/sub, Fans, Case, cell phone, wallet, keys.....printer
Kang Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 To make it a little easier: I'm sure that we could all live with it being somewhat semi-automatic, as in there might be a radio command in the future to ask tankers to adjust speed.
DD_Fenrir Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Trouble is this was something of an issue in reality - and if I understand correctly it wasn't always a given that the tanker could/would adjust its IAS to make life most comfortable.

They would have to, otherwise A-10s wouldn't be able to rejoin at all.
Metal_121 Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 Since the tanker is tied to groundspeed I always use Mach number to get a consistent IAS
