I have both an unmodded warthog joystick and a Virpil T-50CM2 with the warbrd base, and Im having a very hard time trying to figure out the axis tuning settings for this aircraft. Since the real F-16 has FSSB, it makes it really hard to fly with no dead zone or axis curves - I dont have any aircraft or helicopter in the fleet that I deviate from the original axis curves.

Ive tried curves at -25 on both x and y axis; Ive tried curves at -100, and at the moment I have it set on if I even breathe on the stick I get full stick deflection in any direction. I can work with that, but problem being is the warthog stick is stiff, and removing the spring makes it too loose. Using my warthog on the warbrd base is kind of moot since the warthog is a heavy stick and the base isnt up to par to handle that kind of weight so it constantly tips over. Id get the same if I remove the spring from the warthog base and the T-50CM2 joystick isnt what I really want to use for flying the -16. Any help with axis settings would be appreciated.

Have you tried no curves?

I think most people here do that.

The only thing I change is the roll saturation- I change it such that full deflection of the F-16 comes at 90% of my X-52's deflection (the roll response is a little mild for me).

But I can sustain 8.0Gs in a turn at varying speeds for 80 seconds with an inferior joystick and no curves.

Hammer, are you trying to get your TM Warthog to feel just like the stick in the real Viper, or are you just trying to get a playable experience?

The real thing moves about a millimeter (not firsthand knowledge -- got this from some random reddit post so source may or may not be credible). Maybe this is what you are looking for (disclaimer: I have not tried it) http://www.realsimulator.com/html/fssb.html

Otherwise, the rest of us are just using no curves, or something in the range of +5 to -5 curve and just flying it like it's not a FSSB.

no curves doesnt work for me for some reason..

I fly all of my aircraft without curves. The viper flies funny for some reason or other, like it takes a LOT of input to get to drop a wing to one side, and then its rolling way too fast just like that. I dont have to use the full range of motion of my joystick like that in the hornet, and usually not that much in the huey either. I did have the sensitivity all the way up, but the warthog is WAY too stiff to overcome the static friction in that range. Taking the spring out would work, but the stick would just fall over and not center. I know about the FSSB; I think I have enough money tied up into my rig right now and cant justify buying another $500 piece of hardware for only 1 plane.

same boat here with warthog, cant stand how the input is with the viper. I'm at -25 on curves to try and find the feel.. Just makes no sense doing full deflection on a warthog for a F16, doesnt feel right at all to me.

The green one is less stiff I believe.

Ya that's true...

If you think about it, the most realistic thing to do would be to put the stiffest spring on there that you can and just decrease the saturation really low.

So that 10% of joystick deflection = 100% deflection.

The F-16 prototype had no stick movement, it was just sensitive to how much pressure the pilot applied. But this weirded out the test pilots too much apparently, so they added a very small amount of movement.

Did you calibrate the stick using TM's calibration tool or Windows?

doesnt matter how it was calibrated as its on both joysticks I have.

No, I clicked the link and looked at them. was confused as to what the actual difference is between the 3, and know I see they are for extensions. Ill look into one of these springs...now its whether or not it can be delivered anytime soon.

The link I gave you in post #11 is the green spring. It's made for no extension and is softer than the stiff stock spring.

I also have a Hotas Warthog.I also tried curves.

At the moment the Viper is flying with this setting. You have to get used to it. I prefer the right side in the picture.

You used a negative curve. Were you trying to make it more sensitive?

I try to fly with less pressure!. It is not yet perfect. I have too little time due to my job. But I'll dedicate myself to that soon. I'm curious what have you achieved so far?.

I have tried it -100 on both axises and made it extremely sensitive where all I had to do is just nudge the stick fore and aft...again the static friction of this heavy spring makes it hard to work with. Thats how the real -16 stick works where you barely touch it and it goes wherever you want. If the spring wasnt so heavy, it would be perfect.

Int'l shipping doubles the price of those springs....I really hope these springs are worth it.

The real stick uses pressure and not travel. That's why the real stick moves very little.

No idea where your location is but to Colorado it's $24 shipping.

Yeah I know, its 100% FBW pressure sensitive. That doesnt translate that well to a joystick that uses hydraulic actuators via analog inputs. The best thing to do outside of getting the FSSB mod is -100 acceleration in the axis curves. Seems to work just fine for me but the stiff spring makes it difficult at best.

Where at in Colorado anyways? I did my A&P schooling in Broomfield and from Colorado Springs. I live in Michigan now, but I wanna go home. DHS quotes shipping up here at 35$.
