Ok guys, we all know the Supercarrier has been delayed, BUT it looks like our fears about the F14 not working on her, may be a thing of the past.

Literally just patched in the last hr, on today’s open beta patch

From the F14 section

Disabled AI kneeling (for supercarrier)

Added holdback bar (for supercarrier)

Added salute command (for supercarrier)

Supercarrier compatibility added for client/player

WIP: F-14B AI compatibility for supercarrier

Woohoo, that does sound rather positive.

Thanks guys.

Did we always have a salute command? I see the clarification that it was for the supercarrier. Does that mean we now have TWO salute commands? Different ones for different ships?

The new salute command is in the F8 menu. So probably no real change for us with the F-14.

47224 fixed the cat launch issues. Everything was shifting around. Almost like it was choppy water but much more erratic jumping. Still had the issue where it pitches up hard right after the cat launch, though.

Flight model felt a bit different, too when I was coming in for a Case I.

Sorry it’s FIXED the cat launch issues. Excellent does this mean, we can finally do cold and dark startups again on the carrier.

Was a tad annoying when the salute wouldn’t do anything after hooking up.

It looks like the AI still has problems taxiing to to the catapults though. I tested with single and 4ships yesterday, and while the singleton managed fine, 4ships were stuck on their parking spots (which were extremely close to each other).

I am kind of impressed that Heatblur was so on the ball that they beat the actual release of the boat. Then again, HB always goes above and beyond.

I hope we can get a solid keybind for it instead of going through the annoying comms window. It's a chore in VR, shows up in replay tracks ruining immersion, and at night is blindingly bright.

Should be mappable like every other keybind. Having played the F-14 for awhile I would probably map Shift U on the Hornet and not use the F8 menu at all and would use Voice Attack otherwise.

IF there is a (direct) keybind.

Aren't there radio menu items for which there is no keybind? I would love to have all the tanker calls bindable

Ah hmm maybe not. You can do them with sequence commands in Voice Attack, though.

IF the menu position, order, and, most importantly, the default "page" the menu opens up in when "/" is pressed is stable and predictable. I find that this is not always the case with tanking or, e.g., the 9-line.

Not to mention, you should still be able to fly without voiceattack.

And none of this address the issue of immersion-breaking text appearing all over your screen.

Which still means the ugly and obnoxiously bright comms menu will still appear.
