Today I was flying a mission on the Persian Gulf map on a mate's server. After destroying a ship target using LGBs I switched to TACAN to navigate back to the carrier. While the correct direction was indicated on the HUD, the range remained steady and did not decrease as I flew towards my carrier. Two screen shots attached. They show the range to the carrier as 136.9 nm in both screenshots even though the UTC time at the bottom left of the HUD has changed.

There's an issue with the TACAN currently and I think it affects several modules. If you go too far away from the beacon, it'll stop updating. Turning the TACAN off and back on again on the UFC fixes the problem, as a temporary solution until it's properly fixed.

From my experience, it occurs further than 70 NM (probably around 100+) and I'm not sure it occurred every single time for me. Did your friend join you for the strike, was he also at 136 NM away from the TACAN beacon at some point? Or did he stay closer to the carrier? If it's the latter, then he wasn't far away for the issue to occur.

I suspect this is related to a report I have already made, after some time the TACAN stops updating in MP

It is a very difficult bug to diagnose so sorry for the delay.

thanks

It doesn't always occur, but I think that if you fly far away enough, there's a good chance it'll happen after a while. But testing that takes a lot of time, yeah. It occurs in SP as well, I've seen it in many missions.

Well I've done missions where I was RTB to the carrier and had dialed in the carrier TACAN prior to even launching and when initially selecting TACAN for display on the HUD on RTB it was fine (30-40nm away) and updating distance and at some point after that is when it locked up and required a power cycle. Just anecdotal though. I haven't tried to test anything specific on it.

TACAN faults in MP still persist. While in marshall stack astern supercarrier TACAN just stops working and no amount of fiddling restores its function. The HSI bearing pointer just starts spinning incessantly. ICLS is not affected. Makes marshalling impossible when you don't know DME. Can supply track file if needed.
