Would love to see a 120D added to DCS. It was introduced as the C-8 version in 2007. In service 2008.

The AIM-120D (P3I Phase 4, formerly known as AIM-120C-8) is a development of the AIM-120C with a two-way data link, more accurate navigation using a GPS-enhanced IMU, an expanded no-escape envelope, and improved HOBS (high off-boresight) capability. The AIM-120D max speed is Mach 4.

No.

Well beyond the current timeframe of our fighters even if you could get enough information for it to make a halfway believable guesstimation of its performance.

Aim120D only achieved IOC starting in 2015.

Would be more reasonable to ask for the AIm120 C7 first before jumping straight to an AIm120D anyways, but even for that i wouldn't hold my breath.

I don't know what the hell you're talking about c-8 to 20 I don't understand show some pictures you don't understand what you're referring to.

I'm not against having the 120D, but with the AIM-120C being so strong right now thanks to the overhaul, I'm actually wanting opposing missiles to match it. R-77 update would be quite nice.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

With talk of Euro Fighter being introduced soon? I don't get the logic in restrictions. but that's why I put this out there seems to be split.

Thanks everyone for taking time.

Production of the AIM-120D commenced in 2006 with the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase completed in September 2009. Initial Operational Capability (IOC) was declared for the AIM-120D on January 5, 2015 for the Navy and on July 9, 2015 for the Air Force.

So 2015 we both agree, um JF-17.

The PAF inducted its first JF-17 squadron in February 2010.[6][7] In 2015 Pakistan produced 16 JF-17s.[7]

Both are about the same time period. So what is the cap on time. How many years.

Just a friendly discussion.

The Jf17 may be, however The Hornet or Viper are not representative of 2015 iterations.

Even ED has officially stated many times ( especially when reminding players asking for newer weapons) the Hornet they are simulating is roughly circa mid 2000s ( 2005 ish) whilst the F16C block 50 is circa 2007.

I mean, yes why not. But what platforms could employ those? There literally is 0 public data (or not enough) to even simulate those so what's the point? I'd rather have all the current missiles get a rework and have proper aerodynamics and PN guidence than adding any more new stuff.

The problem is a lot of people dont think what it takes to do something properly . They go ahead and ask for the latest and greatest tech thinking its gonna be possible to simulate properly with wikipedia articles.

Just like all the people asking for the Meteor for the Typhoon...

Yes, but when we get aircraft that historically use it. As previously stated our F-15C, F-16C and F/A-18C all are supposed to represent aircraft that predate the introduction of the C-8 and -120D and as such never fielded it, while later aircraft did.

Though personally I don't buy into having the latest and greatest, and I'm kinda put off going more modern than mid 2000. Though even at that every single other asset in DCS World is pre-2000s, especially so for REDFOR units. Sure there's the JF-17 but speaking strictly historically, Pakistan is hardly an adversary to BLUFOR (of course what-if? situations, which is all well and good, but historical? nah).

Personally, I'd rather go with older weapons above anything else, stuff like the AIM-9D and J or the AIM-7E and E-2.

Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk.

Terrains I own: South Atlantic, Syria, The Channel, SoH/PG, Marianas.

System:

GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX, AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Corsair Vengeance DDR5-5200 32 GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070S FE, Western Digital Black SN850X 1 TB (DCS dedicated) & 2 TB NVMe SSDs, Corsair RM850X 850 W, NZXT H7 Flow, MSI G274CV.

Peripherals: VKB Gunfighter Mk.II w. MCG Pro, MFG Crosswind V3 Graphite, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

Maybe a few categories.

Pre WW2 - I wish. OMG so much fun.

WW2

Cold War

Post Cold War

Modern

You can then introduce weapons to even out Modules and never be limited to a time period. Modern could also be called speculation as most data we will never see. But as much as I would love to see Pre WW2 stuff, a F-35 cockpit or B-2.

Thanks everyone.
