Kailux Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 (edited) Sitting on Al Dhafra runway requesting takeoff, ATC gives a QFE of 29.87. If setting the altimeter to that QFE, the altimeter shows a negative altitude. See attached image. Something's off here :P Edited May 2, 2020 by Kailux Title change [No Bug] Gone for good.
FalconPlot16 Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 (edited) Had the same problem in JF-17 with QNH. You shouldn't be using QFE btw. Edited May 2, 2020 by FalconPlot16
Tholozor Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Did you reset the altimeter to ELEC instead of PNEU? It usually goes up by a small amount after that. Kailux Posted May 2, 2020 Author Posted May 2, 2020 Did you reset the altimeter to ELEC instead of PNEU? It usually goes up by a small amount after that. This totally solved the issue, thanks a lot! Never had that problem in the A-10C, but they got the same altimeter installed i think? Gone for good.

A-10C Altimeter wakes up on Electric. Not sure why the Viper doesn’t do likewise. Ghostraider Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 No pilot fly with QFE over distance, You only use QFE to start and LAnd at the same Airfield and dont fly away from. Under Transition Altitude you fly with QHH Above Transition Altutude you fly with Standard Pressure 1013HPa [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]www.49th.de

Frederf Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Changing unit of Kollsman scale requires changing the altimeter unit. The USAF model would only use the inHg scale. You can set 29.92(3) inHg and it is equal to 1013(.2) hPa.
