Nealius Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Are there any more PAF liveries for the JF-17 other than the default 'Spider' one? The User Files only have the Thunder demo team and a bunch of fictional liveries, and there's still no JF-17 forum subsection under mods/liveries here.
Floydii Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Not default ones no. They are still finalising the 3D model, which is delaying the release of the paint kit.. which is delaying full scale skinning efforts.
paco2002 Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 When the JF-17 is completed, there is going to be 10 skins for the plane, instead of the 4 we have actually
Nealius Posted May 5, 2020 Author Posted May 5, 2020 Gotcha. Given Deka's super-fast work I imagine it won't be too long before we those :)
paco2002 Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 They said that they will add them, once the 3D design is fully completed

The User Files only have the Thunder demo team and a bunch of fictional liveries ... I 'm pretty satisfied with the variety of liveries on the Users Files .. tough I agree that the 4 default liveries included with the Module is not enough: For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
shaHeen-1 Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 I wanna learn how to make one but I don't get it. Do I have to edit it pixel by pixel? How does it work?
Rudel_chw Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 ... How does it work? Here is a basic tutorial: F7vIh4WG5og For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Nealius Posted May 6, 2020 Author Posted May 6, 2020 Rudel, where did you find all those PAF liveries? I don't see any of those on the User Files.
Rudel_chw Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 (edited) Rudel, where did you find all those PAF liveries? I don't see any of those on the User Files. Maybe you are filtering by “JF-17" unit, but a lot were classified as "other" as at the beginning there was no JF-17 category. For example: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/?set_filter=Y&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=6&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=&arrFilter_DATE_CREATE_1_DAYS_TO_BACK=&CREATED_BY=Urbi&sort_by_order=TIMESTAMP_X_DESC&set_filter=Filter The File server seems to be in trouble at the moment, but I’m sure that ED will fix it soon. shaHeen-1 Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Here is a basic tutorial: F7vIh4WG5og Makes sense... Now I just have to figure out how to get photoshop without having to pay $20 every month. Are there good alternatives that work well with DCS liveries?
Rudel_chw Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Are there good alternatives that work well with DCS liveries? Use Gimp, its free. shaHeen-1 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 I'll give gimp a shot. Hopefully it has some of those op tools.
Nealius Posted May 8, 2020 Author Posted May 8, 2020 Gimp doesn't work well with alpha channels, though, does it?
shaHeen-1 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Well the way I see it free goes a long way farther than $20 for 99% features I will never touch.
Rudel_chw Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Well the way I see it free goes a long way farther than $20 for 99% features I will never touch. It’s $20 per month .. $240 per year ... Adobe is probably the greediest software maker of all time. For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
shaHeen-1 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 I hope somebody gets tempted to do a detailed gimp livery tutorial where they cover only the features relevant to dcs liveries.
Mike_Romeo Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 (edited) Gimp doesn't work well with alpha channels, though, does it? Oh it works very well with alpha channels and since the 2.10.18 release it also handle CMYK(A) PSD files. I can finaly edit psd files and at the moment I am working on a german Luftwaffe skin for the Su-25's. I coudn't do that with previos version of gimp since the Su-25's template was made with an old photoshop version. Edited May 8, 2020 by Mike_Romeo My skins
shaHeen-1 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 The fact that I didn't understand half of what you're talking about means that I'm probably about to take on more than I can chew. Ugly depth-less, hot-pink and full of holes liveries incoming!
