DmitriKozlowsky Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 I admit it. Even with checklist start up, I , ar times, forget to turn ON OXYGEN. One would think that in real Hornet, or any other modern aircraft, oxygen off or malfunction above angels 10 would be a bright red WARNING flashing for all its worth. I have flown mission where I climbed to above angels 40, after which Hornet stalls. I have GLOC enabled and screen has gone dark during 7+G sustained turn. So sim has that physiological effect. Isn't lack of oxy manifests as loss of color vision, then blurry peripheral, then blurry, then dark LOC.
Swift. Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 A brief glance through some docs reveal that 'OBOGS DEGD' is the caution that should appear when the system detects that the concentration of oxygen flowing through the hose is less that acceptable. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 10, 2020 ED Team Posted May 10, 2020 Hi we would like to see a replay showing it happen. In the hornet with OBOGS turned off it should deprive the pilot of oxygen, this is due to the mask always being in the on / worn state in the cockpit. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Swift. Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 I think there is an issue here. Expected behaviour: Oxy flow - on OBOGS - off OBOGS DEGD caution - on Actual behaviour: Oxy flow - on OBOGS - off OBOGS DEGD caution - off This may just be my misunderstanding of natops, but I imagine the OBOGS being off would count as the required conditions to trip the OBOGS monitor triggering the OBOGS DEGD caution. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
al531246 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Expected behaviour: Oxy flow - on OBOGS - off OBOGS DEGD caution - on This may just be my misunderstanding of natops, but I imagine the OBOGS being off would count as the required conditions to trip the OBOGS monitor triggering the OBOGS DEGD caution. I don't believe this is the case. It sounds to me like it's only monitoring the quality of the oxygen being delivered to the mask. If the concentration goes below a threshold it activates the alert. I've lifted this straight from the NATOPS; 2.18.3.5 OBOGS DEGD Display. An OBOGS DEGD caution comes on when the oxygen concentration inside the OBOGS monitor is below the acceptable level. Swift. Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Indeed, so if the OBOGS is off then the % oxygen would be significantly lower than acceptable level, thus triggering an alert. The only reason this wouldnt happen is if the Monitor doesnt act if the OBOGS switch is in the off position. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
randomTOTEN Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 The obogs has never had any effect in game Yes it does. Depressurize the Hornet at altitude then turn your OBOGS off.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 13, 2020 ED Team Posted May 13, 2020 Yes it does. Depressurize the Hornet at altitude then turn your OBOGS off. Yes this is my understanding of it also. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
