Crimson_Ghost138 Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 Hi! I really enjoy the immersion in SP to startup with Jester´s assistance and Voice Commands, but it really breaks it when this big yellow markers come up to show you where everything is. It would be a great option to enable/disable this. Or is there some other method on how to do it? After endles startups i know where to find the things in cockpit, but dont want to miss Jester-bro :D
Shaemus ODonnelly Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 +1 Would be awesome! I like to do a assisted startup once in a while to check wether i am doing it correctly and these yellow markers can get really annoying.
RustBelt Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 The Immersion of the fake thing where the game reads your checklist to you? Real pilots run a flow and then check it with their checklist. What would be nice is Jester doing the pre-takeoff and pre-landing checks which are call and response checklists.
StrongHarm Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 +10! Add 'Show Help on Assisted Startup' in the Special > F-14 menu. Remove the checkmark, no yellow boxes. RustBelt, I don't know how it is now, but I was USNA in the '90s and I saw teams read each other checklists all the time. It depended on the crew. And by the way, you always go through every checklist, no matter how many hours you have. NATOPS law. We had an AD lose his startup qual because he skipped a single step on a checklist once. I like the idea of checklist assist in the sim, it adds to the immersion in my opinion. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

That's exactly what the assissted startup is, it follows the real life startup checklist to the point and even has points where you need to "say" check, although we reduced that heavily, since if you feel like it, you can just say it out loud, hehe, Jester won't like ever really hear you... I agree about the yellow markers, they should be optional, and in fact we talked about this several times. It is something for towards the end though, when the more pressing stuff is finished. It's definitely in the back of our minds. flybull Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 I think Rustbelt was alluding to wanting Jester actually verbalising the Take Off and Landing checklists - which would be an incredible addition.

Oh, I see. Checklists is definitely something we keep pondering on and off. One of the problems being exactly the flow, btw. Crews would adapt their flows ofc, Jester can only really have one flow, or say a couple options to that, but not very adaptive without it becoming a massive headache too much. But we'll see. It's definitely an idea that attracts us, too. Home Fries Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 @IronMike, I'd be happy with the stock checklist without alternate flows, provided you could use the wheel to skip a step or cancel the checklist. Another option could be to use the wheel to initiate a checklist so it doesn't just automatically pop up, though this should probably be selectable in the Options menu to allow for people who want to be prompted by Jester. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide

It's definitely an idea that attracts us, too. It's more the direct callouts as referenced in the NATOPS checklist (which I Paraphrase here) "WINK" Just like when I was flying the Dash-8 we had a set of non-paper Takeoff calls: Set Power..........Power Set (at 70 knots) Cross Check.......Cross Check (at V1) ...........................V1 (at Vr) ...........................Rotate (when VSI shows stable positive climb) ...........................Positive Rate Gear up..............Gear Up (at Acceleration Height) ...........................Acceleration Height Flaps Up, Set Climb Power, Climb Checklist ...........................Flaps Up ...........................Climb Power Set ...........................Climb Checklist (then read and do the climb checklist) Every time done when it should and MUST be done. And on landing Flaps 15, Final Check ........................Flaps 15, 3 Green No red, Bleeds on and Minimum, Synchropahser is off, Cleared to land (whatever runway) Before Landing Checklist is complete.
