Fair enough. I’m running a gtx 960 and my pc had a stroke when I opened up the cold start deck mission. Tried turning off shadows etc and pc freezes.

Might be worth creating your own mission in the mission editor with the SC and your plane to start with. The cold start mission has a crowded flight deck so will definitely stress your rig

what are your settings, you are below the recommended minimum spec... ?

I am running an overclocked 970 and it's perfectly playable. That said the rest of my system (I5 6600k @4.5ghz and 32gb RAM) probably helps.
