Feature request.

Example- In STEAM - I can choose location of the installed game.

I would like to do same, but for terrains in DCS. (ei. Select a different drive / folder for maps)

As new maps release, my SSD is not getting bigger. DCS size long ago outgrew my drive so I stopped buying new maps. I do have 3 SSD drives and not a single one can contain entire DCS World + Maps.

with this feature, I and probably others, would be able to support DCS World by buying new maps.

To further break out request;

C:\...DCS World

E:\...DCS map\map A

G:\...DCS map\map B

etc.

AFAIK the best work around ATM is to use a symlink / directory junction to point to the contents/map folder that's really on a drive with more space.

Such feature will be a disaster for our support staff.

If you know what you are doing you can easily achieve the same using symlinks/junctions, as noted above.

Sorry, but I don't really follow. I mean, I have a full install of DCS with all terrains and most modules. It is just under 200gb. I think the smallest Samsung SSD is 250Gb and costs around £50!

Not sure how you have 3 such small drives.

Because not so long time ago 64 and 120 GB drives were popular.

It is not than while ago when a 250 GB drives became very affordable, and today even a M.2 drives are cheaper than a SSD's.

But that doesn't change the situation that many does have a smaller than a 200 GB drives.

Sure it is fairly cheap for someone to invest a 30-100€ for a new 250 or 500 GB M.2 drive, but it is again little more invest, time to get it installed and possible the cable management etc.

I use in a year by average a 6-8 terabytes of storage, so for me a DCS required space is nothing, but we need to remember that not everyone can invest just money, but as well money for it.

It would be nice for the DCS own module manager to support a moving selected modules to another directory. It literally shouldn't be a problem even for a support personnel.

Already it was a pain that Oculus didn't offer for a longer period a means to install their software on anything else than C: drive, but at least now you can install it elsewhere.

Steam made the same change long time ago, allowing you to have multiple libraries where games can be installed. And you can even just add/remove libraries by your will if you so want. So you can example have one library on external drive and move it around.

I have opted to sell my smaller drives on the 2nd hand market, thir way I'm able to usually cover half the cost of a new bigger drive .. currently I have a 1 TB drive for both DCS and the local copy of my cloud drive (I store a lot of DCS Saved Games items there).

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

I would have to disagree. Space is space. If you have to start moving a few Gbs from drive to drive, you need to 'invest' in another solution. I mean, a 500gb SSD costs less than a DCS module for goodness sake.

Considering the investment required for DCS in hardware, controllers , modules, terrains etc., I think the few pounds for a SSD to store it on is small beer.

250G = windows + other non-steam games + dcs

500G = Steam

250G = Steam

I guess I can move steam games around to clear up drive for DCS only.

how do you do this?

for instance dcs is on c and its full, ive had to delete maps. can i simply cut/paste all the maps and modules to an i/dcs folder and put a link in the original folder?
