Although you can crack it from all sides with the GAU. Just need more time on target and more rounds - which then exposes you much longer to ground-fire. The T-80 and T-90 have much better armor as former MBTs so the effectivness of the GAU is a bit outdated here. Weapons of choice for moving Armor is GBU12 or Mav as said above. Rockets mostly are a waste of money Brrrrrrrrrrrt I'd rather call in a Strike Eagle...
