Bobik2002 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Don't sell hdd / sdd, it's everytimes dangerous not just for dcs but for your personal information. Ryzen 9 5900x | 32GB DDR4 | RTX 3090 | 32GB RAM
Vanguard Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 You can activate your game up to 10 times, due to significant hardware changes or an entirely new PC. It is fully described here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/dcs_world_activation_guide_en/
unknown Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 You can activate your game up to 10 times, due to significant hardware changes or an entirely new PC. It is fully described here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/dcs_world_activation_guide_en/ But isn't that outdated information right now? Because that guide describes the Starforce protected modules, ED changed (all?) modules from starforce-key protection to bind them to your ED account. I know there is/was a "right" way to disable/enable modules protected by starforce but i never bothered, if you run low on activations you got them(atleast 3) back over a(couple?) month. Last time i build a new PC(2 years ago) i just installed DCS again(without deactivating before) and most of my modules were just fine after login and reinstall through the game module manager. There were only a couple modules with the starforce system left that needed 1 activation - but if i remember correct ED switched them all in the meantime from starforce to your ED account because of the free trial thing(was not possible with starforce). Long story short - just keep your ED account/DCS login information and you'll be fine with your new PC. Modules: KA-50, A-10C, FC3, UH-1H, MI-8MTV2, CA, MIG-21bis, FW-190D9, Bf-109K4, F-86F, MIG-15bis, M-2000C, SA342 Gazelle, AJS-37 Viggen, F/A-18C, F-14, C-101, FW-190A8, F-16C, F-5E, JF-17, SC, Mi-24P Hind, AH-64D Apache, Mirage F1, F-4E Phantom II System: Win 11 Pro 64bit, Ryzen 3800X, 32gb RAM DDR4-3200, PowerColor Radeon RX 6900XT Red Devil ,1 x Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe, 2 x Samsung SSD 2TB + 1TB SATA, MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals - VIRPIL T-50CM and VIRPIL MongoosT-50 Throttle - HP Reverg G2, using only the latest Open Beta, DCS settings
Vanguard Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 True, I'm not sure if the 10 activation limit remains or not, but I agree, just re-install and enter your credentials and you'll be fine. I could have sworn when I did this recently I still got a message with "8 activations remaining" but either I, 1. Still had a starforce module at the time, or 2. My brain is mixing it up with second last time I did it. JRM, whether the limit exists or not, considering you haven't done it before, you'll be fine either way, you either have 10 or infinite, so... carry on.
sirrah Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 I'm a bit confused In the early dcs days (black shark, huey, A10C) we indeed had a limited number of licences, but isn't that all obsolete now? Nowadays, with our dcs login we're able to install all dcs modules on as many pc's as we like, right? Nowadays, with our dcs login we're able to install all dcs modules on as many pc's as we like, right? That’s good news if true. I aim to take my current PC to my place of work (I work away from home a lot), and fly DCS spare time. Meanwhile, I shall be having a nice, shiny new PC here at home, also for DCS. But I don’t want to have to purchase all of my modules again. Can anyone confirm if I can have my account running successfully on more than one PC?
sirrah Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 (edited) Can anyone confirm if I can have my account running successfully on more than one PC? You can I've installed DCS on various (work) laptops in the past. Mainly for mission editing purposes. Meanwhile I had DCS installed on my home pc for VR flying. Never tried to run dcs on two PC's simultaneously though. But I'd be highly surprised if that would work, for obvious copyright protection reasons. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 21, 2020 ED Team Posted June 21, 2020 If you are selling your pc with the hard drives make sure you have done a complete reformat and fresh install of windows. That would be my advice. as for your DCS account, we now use a keyless system, so as long as you have your login details you can install on a new machine and login with no issues.
