Hey to every one,

Could anyone explain or alternatively to send me a guide about the differences in MK snake eye and MK air bombs?

Thanx

Thank you so much, what is the use/purpose of each bomb?

Generally speaking, a normal/slick bomb will travel at the speed of plane when released so they detonate as you're flying over it. The retarded bombs delay impact so If you have to do low level bombing run it wont explode beneath you and damage plane.

Anyone notice a useful difference between the two.

Hi, I remember I read somewhere that the difference between the two retarding high drag systems lies on some release speed restrictions/limitations, and of course looking at them also cost per unit.

But I do not know if this limitation is simulated in DCS.

the mk82 AIR is generally more flexible as you can drop it in a slick config, and it is pilot configurable. The Snake-eye can only drop high drag, but it is a cheaper and more reliable system since you are relying on a spring instead of a pyrotechnic inflation.

The MK82AIR is also cleared to higher mach, the mk82SE is limited to ~550kts and i forget what mach; i am certain it is lower though. If i had to speculate the drag index of an SE is probably higher as well.

The Snake-eye can only drop high drag.

The F-16 in DCS can drop them slick, but the F-5E-3 cannot. Not sure which one should be getting a bug report here.:music_whistling:
