So I know most of the RWR symbols, but I've recently seen a few that baffle me.

40 (US ship?)

AEW or AW (Awacs?)

T2 (Russian ship s300?)

U (not missile)

U (missile Aim54 presumably?)

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

40 is the AN/SPS-40 air search radar on the USS Tarawa.

AE would be the Aegis Combat System on Ticonderoga-class cruisers and Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.

T2 is the cruiser Moskva, which is equipped with navalized S-300.

The Viggen displays as 'U' on the RWR (not defined in the SymbolsBase.lua).

Heatblur's AIM-54 should be displayed as 'M', but the 54A is defined in the SymbolsBase.lua, not the 54C (possible bug?).

Ok, that covers everything but "40" WTF is "40"?

I assume its a US warship of some sort based on the fact the other 4x are US ships but which one? Maybe the Burke?

Im confused about something. If (for example) I see a "2" on my RWR, I get that its a SA-2 site, and from my understanding, there a multiple components for that site. In this example, lets say it has:

(1) Launcher, a Track Radar and a Search Radar.

The Track Radar (Fan Song) would have a RWR symbol of "FS".

The Search Radar (Flat Face) would have a RWR symbol of "FF".

So what physical site component actually is the "2" representing in the RWR or the F-16 Viper HAD for that matter? Thanks,

null

I believe the '2' would be the Fan Song radar. I think the search radar would just show as 'S' as this can also be the search radar for an SA3 site. All of the numbered threats on the RWR are for tracking radars.

The plot thickens! I appreciate the feedback,,, I am now scratching my head even more now though. I have all these charts but they are a bit convoluted

@Fakum Numbers = Track/Fire control radars. These always need to die first. Without track radars a SAM site can't hurt you anymore. Sometimes its a separate fixed array like the Fan Song, or they're integrated into the launcher itself and can be mobile like the SA8, SA9, etc, in which case destroying the launcher and the radar is one and the same.

Basically if you see a number on your RWR or your HAD, it can engage you and needs to die.
