[CORRECT AS-IS] Rudder is offset to the right

Recommended Posts

The rudder is offset to the right when NO pressure is applied to it (rudder assistance is OFF). I've attached a screenshot where it's clearly visible. The same issue happens with the Dora.

That's the rudder trim tab at work. Zero airspeed, zero deflection.

The rudder trim tab is pre-adjusted for cruise flight.

Then why is not the same on the Spit or K-4? The Ctrl+Enter is there to show us the user input, as far as I know.

The Spitfire has adjustable rudder trim from cockpit and the 109 has rudder trim adjustable in setting (as some players wanted), default setting is 0°.

That is why the Spitfire and the 109 are "different".

The Dora (and the Anton too) has this "offset" from day one as far as i know.

F-15E | F-14A/B

P-51D | P-47D | Mosquito FB Mk VI |Spitfire | Fw 190D | Fw 190A | Bf 109K |  WWII Assets Pack

Normandy 2 | The Channel | Sinai | Syria | PG | NTTR | South Atlantic

F/A-18 | F-86 | F-16C | A-10C | FC-3 | CA | SC |

Tested with 70% right rudder trim on 109 and the it is offset. Got it now.. Thanks!

L.E. I've tried with aileron trim -100 (left) and +100(right) and nothing happens.. Should I file for a bug in 109 section? :)

I think this approach is not quite correct. If the plane has tabs for rudder trimming then why is ALL rudder deflected? It takes a big chunk from the allowed travel.. which is not what's happening in reality with a trim tab. Correct me if I'm wrong..

You can use Vertical stab incidence angle like in P-51 so you wont loose rudder travel, but at high speed it become so overwhelming that pilot has to fight it to fight straight.

^ I don't quite understand your question. Sure it does move all rudder, that's exactly how trim tabs work, on any control surface for that matter.

Tabs move ailerons, elevators and rudders to certain position and keep them there - so that the pilot doesn't have to keep them in that position all the time using his muscles - the force he has to apply is zeroed.

The only difference vs reality is, in real plane, rudder pedals would move accordingly to the trim tab input as well. As long as we don't have FFB gaming pedals, we won't be able to simulate this correctly.

It's simple actually.. It induces an artificial rudder input, which in turn makes right rudder inefficient.

Three years ago it wasn't like this. I posted a YouTube video (in Dora section) that I've made in 2017. It shows rudder in neutral on the ground before taking off. So this unusual behavior was introduced later with no explanations and quite inaccurate. The Bf has also trim tabs and it's NOT affected in this way.

Dude, it was that way right from the release. And as I wrote: No airspeed, no deflection. Hence on the ground no deflection.

Here is a video I made, exactly for this very topic in 2014 for Dora.

Your video shows: No airspeed, ne deflection. And once you're in the air... there is a deflection... strange...

And what should I check with your video exactly? 22 minutes and what should I see and at what timestamp? Did you check my video and the DATE I published it?
