ouseler Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 I preordered the SYRIA map a while back and when it came out on Friday, I was excited to download and check it out. However, the module manager does not have it and I cannot download it. Now I read in the Customer Support notes that new modules are released for Open Beta and would be released for Stable at a later time. I had OB and stable on my drive, but they both were taking up a lot of room so I deleted OB. Okay, with that being said, when can I expect the SYRIA map to be available on Stable? System Specs: AMD 5950X (liquid-cooled), Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Pro Motherboard, 32 GB RAM DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung Evo 970 Plus 2 TB, Seagate 2TB SSD, Geforce RTX 4080 GPU, Rosewill Glacier 1000W Power Supply, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS (Stick, Throttle), Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Pedals, NaturalPoint TrackIR 5 w/ProClip, (1) Vizio 40" 4K Monitor, TPLink Dual Band Wireless Card, Window 11 OS
Paganus Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 Since the Open Beta versions have been getting groomed more before release, I suspect it will be a short wait. OR You can run this command line from the folder where the updater lives to switch your install; DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta
Flappie Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Hi lodar. The aforementioned command does work, yes. When lauched, it updates your stable version with the open beta branch latest version, which means you won't be able to join MP servers running the current stable version. Of course, you can revert whenever you want, using this command: DCS_updater.exe update @release (more info here) ---
lodar Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Is there a video? I have never done something like that.
drPhibes Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 If you have never used the command prompt you should probably try SkateZilla's updater GUI instead: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 25, 2020 ED Team Posted September 25, 2020 Is there a video? I have never done something like that. If you have the room you can just download and run open beta as well https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/beta/ It is an independent install Forum rules - DCS Crashing? lodar Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Thanks fellas. Is it happening because its an early release? Would it get fixed later?
Flappie Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 Open Beta (OB) and Release are two different development public branches. Each new feature gets publicly tested in the OB first. When ED feels the OB version is working fine, they push it into the Release branch. The Syria module is a brand new feature which was introduced in the OB 6 weeks ago, among other things (aircraft modifications as well as core functions modifications). It should make its way to the Release "soon™". If you don't want to install OB, you have to be patient. ---
