Cayman41 Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 I’m relatively new to the F-16 and was getting in some bombing practice last night in multiplayer Syria. I had two issues last night I’m hoping you guys can help with... Multiple takeoffs, about a 30-35% success rate in taking off. Rudder pedals are WAY too sensitive. I don’t have any issue with the F-18 or A-10, yet the -16 is all over the place. I’m using Saitek rudder pedals, is this an issue with the -16 or my rudder axis settings? I’ve increased the Deadzone, but not sure how to put the X Y numbers or Curvature. Second, not sure if it’s a problem with the Syria map or the F-16 or my VR settings, but my two wingmen were able to see T-72s and other vehicles on the streets, I saw nothing. I haven’t had this issue in other maps, nor with the F-18 or the A-10. I made the same ingress run as the other two guys, good visibility and saw nothing. I increased my Civ Traffic to Medium from Low, but not sure what other settings might affect this. I’m using the Valve Index with a pretty beefy system, settings are fairly high (the Syria map looks gorgeous). Any help?
Hunter Joker Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 For the rudder You need to place a curvatura about 20/25, not a Dead zone and after 70knots put of NWS. For the visual... BuzzU Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 I don't understand this. I don't touch the rudders on takeoff. It goes straight by itself. Make sure your deadzone is big enough to not put any input with feet off the pedals A 25 curve helps too if you do need to use the rudders. Turn off nosewheel steering once rolling. Buzz
Cayman41 Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 Thanks guys! I’ll try this. As far as the AI vehicles go, I’m about to try and give it another go, see if there’s something I missed.
ramjet77 Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 BuzzU if you have an asymmetric loadout mainly with TGP on right cheek it is an issue and jet does not go straight without pilot input.
ilikepie Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 BuzzU if you have an asymmetric loadout mainly with TGP on right cheek it is an issue and jet does not go straight without pilot input. or crosswinds too Action After Contemplation
SCPanda Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 According to the manual, NWS should be turned off when you go above 70 knots when takeoff.
deadpool Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 With the way that it's currently build, I am afraid to step down on my rudder pedal on one side for fearing it will rotate my nosewheel 4 times full 360°. And yeah, only plane ingame with that shenaniganz, haven't seen any written document yet, that it's supposed to try to kill the pilot during takeoff and landing like that. Ok, I haven't messed with the DCS Viper that much because i'll fly BMS for my Viper fix. I'm mostly in the Hornet and Hog in DCS. Carry on. Buzz
Cayman41 Posted August 24, 2020 Author Posted August 24, 2020 Is NWS engaged during your takeoff roll? Yes’, NWS is engaged during takeoff roll, until 70 knots then disengaged. My work around is applying the method we use IRL for excessive crosswind takeoffs (in the Airbus), I push the throttles up but not fully open until around 100kts, then as I get full rudder authority, i then go to MAX. Obviously this extends my takeoff roll significantly (and constricts what I can carry payload-wise) on the longer runways it’s manageable. Rejoins take a little longer as well.

Have you compared that to going full AB right at the start and turning off NWS sooner? Buzz
Cayman41 Posted August 25, 2020 Author Posted August 25, 2020 Have you compared that to going full AB right at the start and turning off NWS sooner? Yes, full AB gave me significant problems.
SCPanda Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 ED said a long time ago that they will fix the NWS handling but nothing so far.... I really hope the fix comes in the next patch.
