Mustang Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Since the old thread is MIA, think its suitable to start a new one :D Word has it the 104th is preparing a big MP event in the near future, hopefully we'll hear it here first  S! to the 104th, you guys rock!
EvilBivol-1 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Before any flames rise up, I just want to say that the original thread was "hard deleted" by accident. Unfortunately, we can't recover it, but we were not (yet) intending on either closing or deleting it, despite the discussion moving in a direction we did not like. Apologies. Let's make sure this one stays on topic. It's great to see server numbers going up as the sim matures, instead of the other way around. A big thank you to those of you making efforts to support and expand the Lock On community. We applaud the server hosts, mission builders, and game modders. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. We will post here shortly on the event and thank you again for your kind words of support Mustang.:) Before any flames rise up, I just want to say that the original thread was "hard deleted" by accident. Unfortunately, we can't recover it, but we were not (yet) intending on either closing or deleting it, despite the discussion moving in a direction we did not like. Apologies. Thank you for the explanation. We (the 104th) were disappointed to see the original thread by this title removed because we were so flattered that an outstanding community member like Pilotasso saw fit to post something so kind, noting and celebrating having 61 players on our dedicated server on a random weekend on Hyperlobby. Never in our wildest dreams did we expect to see what happened next. To our amazement and pleasure this thread swelled quickly to over 2000+ views and over 80+ posts of congratulations and exchanges of well wishes from fine squadrons and pilots from all over the LockOn community. This thread was not considered a badge of honor by us, but rather as a testimony to all of you who posted with honest friendship and support. We fully appreciate now that as both individuals and as squadrons we are part of something larger then ourselves here and that in the final analysis, at least as far as the 104th is concerned, just being a meaningful part of that is in itself its own reward. It is some thing that can’t be taken away. We again would like to express our thanks to you, the LockOn community, our extended family. Salute!:) Community Rules! S77th-GOYA Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Should we assume that Frostie's thread regarding the 51st server was accidentally deleted also? 1
EvilBivol-1 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Should we assume that Frostie's thread regarding the 51st server was accidentally deleted also? Possibly, yes. Any suddenly missing thread probably suffered the same unfortunate fate. I don't know exactly what happened, but I'd guess it was a case of selecting the wrong boxes when trying to remove some posts. Feel free to restart any recently removed thread, so long as it was not previously locked. If anyone has any more questions about disappearing threads, please ask them via PM. There is no need for another disappearance... ;) 1 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
Pilotasso Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Well, it has been outstanding times for more servers than the 104th. I note that I do not take political sides on any squad but I would like to add that thanks to other efforts from the community another server also reached very high levels (I do not recall precise numbers but they were both 70+ players). It is important that we keep this level of initiatives. Under my limitations Ill be glad to publicitize and give credit to them whatever they are, whoever they are from. It is enought to beleive and invest to reach the audience objectives this hobby deserves. This I hope will also stimulate a contininuing sales campaign for LOMAC and help bring along a 1.13 patch. :) .
GGTharos Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I think people are for the most part well aware of planned events; they can't really be compared to a spontaneous high number of users on HL, and it is this spontaneity that is important. Planned events are important as well, but they are designed to bring out large numbers. That's nice, but the reality is that high numbers on servers need to be spontaneous to show a large, growing community. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Seeing those numbers just randomly showing up in HL was a testament to the growth and love of an aging yet still amazing sim. The success of that day goes NOT to the 104th Phoenix VFBS but to the community as a whole, to everyone one who participated, those who couldnt and also to those who no longer fly with us in the community. S! to you all To Eagle Dynamics - As you can see this SIM is not dead!! Bring on the 1.3 Patch  2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Toadster Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Thanks again to everyone in the LOMAC Community that has shown tremendous support for the 104th! It's always a pleasure to see regulars and new faces flying on the dedicated server. S!
