Tango777 Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 In the A-10C, I used to be able to take out an air threat with a Maverick's onboard camera if I were to be out of my Aim-9s. In the A-10C II, I can lock onto the air threat without a problem just like in the A-10C. But the problem is that in the A-10C II, the Maverick's camera does not remain locked on to the airborne target after I fire it. Instead the Maverick just continues to fly straight, and then it pitches down and into the ground. i7-13700F - 32GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB - 2TB NVMe SSD - Windows 11
BuzzU Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 We need to find out if using Mavs in A/A is realistic. It might have been fixed if it isn't. Buzz

gavagai Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 The Swedish equivalent on the DCS Viggen was dubbed the "Terminator" missile because it would turn 180 degrees to run down a fleeing opponent. Tango777 Posted October 12, 2020 Author Posted October 12, 2020 I see. The reason I would use them as a last resort was because I saw some tutorials on the matter on youtube. i7-13700F - 32GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB - 2TB NVMe SSD - Windows 11
Deezle Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 I've used them on slow moving, very low helos in the past, that strikes me as somewhat plausible. Using them against a flying plane is definitely not realistic. Mr_sukebe Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Anyone tried using an APKWS in A2A? After all, they travel at Mach 3 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

Tango777 Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 In the past I have only used them on rotary-wing aircraft and not fixed-wing aircraft. i7-13700F - 32GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB - 2TB NVMe SSD - Windows 11
norbot Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Used AGM-65 against heavy choppers from time to time. Probably not realistic at all, but quite effective in DCS World.
razo+r Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Anyone tried using an APKWS in A2A? After all, they travel at Mach 3 Quite good if circumstances allow the use of it against air targets.
