Sim-mod A-10 Problems - report here

Sorry, it was getting hard to track the problems from the compliments in the main A-10 thread, so ONLY POST HERE, if you are having problems with it or if you have a solution. And this thread is strictly only problems, not suggestions for improvements because as stated in the readme: there won't be any update to the model. But we do wish to help you.

 

The 3 main problems we are focusing right now is the:

1.) Weird cockpit position- where you are inside the belly of the aircraft

 

2.) The black reflection when you look front of your cockpit

Solution: Set your shadows to all panels rather than full.

 

3.) White skin (or no skin).

Solution: Some people are installing it with modman 5 or installing it manually. The reason we wanted you guys to install with the latest modman (6.3.xx) is that it can add lines to the graphics.cfg automatically. So be sure and check that you have the cdds entries in that file

 

We are aware of some of the other bugs, but the main focus are these three because its pretty hard to use the new A-10 while dealing with this.

 

We want to isolate the problem because only a few percentage of people is actually having this problem. So when you post here, tell us:

 

Exactly which problem you are dealing with (maybe with a screenshot)

 

Your system specs:

1.) Your cpu

2.) ram

3.) and graphics card (this is the main thing so be detailed about it)

4.) what is your graphics driver

5.) have you updated or downgrade your driver (sometimes the newer one sucks)

 

Also tell us:

6.) how did you install lock on, what version

7.) did you use the latest modman to install it. Did you replace the meinit file?

8.) and what other mods do you have installed (this is also very important- my guess for the black reflection is that it is conflicting with no scratch mod or something)

9.) Which download link did you get it from?

10.) have you tried redownloading it again from another mirror site?

 

And PLEASE PLEASE, go through the readme. A lot of the problems that are coming up is due to the user not installing it correctly. We spent a lot of time making the comprehensive readme- so please take 5 min to look over it.

 

Also, it is very important you guys be as specific as possible as to what mods you have installed, how did you install it, and graphics driver. Because its very hard to pinpoint the exact problem because most of us don't see what you guys are seeing.

Forward Pit Problem

 

Your system specs:

1.) Your cpu: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2 GHZ

2.) ram: 2 Gigs Corsair

3.) and graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512

4.) what is your graphics driver: nv4_disp.dll version 6.14.0011.6928

5.) have you updated or downgrade your driver: Upgraded

Also tell us:

6.) how did you install lock on, what version: Custom install on my F drive (where most of my games go because of the space). Lockon 1.12

7.) did you use the latest modman to install it. Did you replace the meinit file? Yes and Yes

8.) and what other mods do you have installed: Scenery mod version 1.2 Merzifon

9.) Which download link did you get it from? Tried all of the links provided

10.) have you tried redownloading it again from another mirror site? Yes

Well, I have problem number 2.

I tried uninstalling a-10.tga.cdds as suggested by Highwayman, but it got worst.

 

Specs:

1.) Athlon 64 3500+ (2216 MHz)

2.) 1.5GB RAM

3.) XFX nVidia Geforce 7600GT

4.) Forceware 169.21 WHQL

5.) The first time I found the problem I had Forceware 163.x, and upgraded to 169.21 to check if that corrected the problem

 

6.) I have a second copy of LO/FC 1.12a and Modman 6.3.0.1 redirected to that folder

7.) Yes, 6.3.0.1. Meinit.xml was replaced by modman after installing the new A-10A

8.) Mods installed:

Ground Pounder Terrain Beta 1.01

Directional Airfield Beacon 2.1 by TekaTeka

I checked the meinit.xml and graphics.cfg with the info on the readme and everything seems OK

to polten, download it from a different website. Because i believe someone reported something was wrong off of the simwolf website mirror. As a temp solution, i heard turning off reflection works.

 

to tank, did you try a variety of graphics driver? Similar to what polten did, like using 169.xx...etc.

I dowloaded again from Lockonfiles, but to no avail.

I turned off reflections, and that was a partial solution, since the black layer in the cockpit glass dissapeared, but the HUD, mirrors, and some instruments kept obscured.

Polten can you check and see if you still have this CDDS buy using the CDDS browser in modman ?C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Bazar\World\cockpitstexturesbmp.cdds ( is it there?) in this CDDS will you check for these files you should be able to see the bitmaps in the CDDS viewer window

Hi I'm in the 104th Phoenix. And I just in stalled the new Mod and was looking at the squad skins but they all look alike. The country skins are all different, just the squad skin are all the same, or am I missing something? Oh and I installed it with Modman, it all install, but some of the files have "CFG" next to them. Other then that they look awesome.

After my A-10 install loading of R-77s became possible on the SU-27 and 33. I know of another person who verified this as well. I mentioned this to Yeniceri so he's aware. Not a big deal but newbies might load 77s inavertantly on servers.

 

I have many mods installed. Installed the A10 model with the main download and the F-15 compatibility patch. No modifications to the meinit.xml file after installation of the A10 model.

So none of you guys have any type of cockpit mods installed? Because from the looks of this, this shouldn't be the model's problem because it looks like your textures are all messed up. I can understand tanks problem could be the model's fault, like the seating position is wrong, but based on the other photos, i see black textures on huds, mirrors, and bottom seat, that shouldn't be the models fault.

 

I know this is a shot in the dark here, but if you guys don't have a cockpit mod installed, how about try and install one. Maybe some of the new textures would replace the corrupted textures. For example, try this one

the Squad skins will look the same for the time being because after the release of the model the squadrons will submit their skins to the team and a kind of patch will be released with all the propper skins :) right now they are there to mark the place :thumbup:

No Gray wolf the current skins will be able to stay the Squadron Skins will be add ons the new model has room for 100 Skins or combinations of skins and markings that are controlled in the skin file. In other words you could have 100 different skins for the A-10 or just one basic cammo sceam(Skin) on the A-10 with 100 different names and markings

Yes, I have those lines, and the others you mentioned; I just edited out from my post because this forum only accepts up to 10000 characters.

I think the AVI section is for the video renderer, not for the Maverick.

 

I tried to run the sim in window mode instead of full screen as you suggested, but the problem persists.

 

I will compare your file with mine later, right now is 2:42AM here, and I am sleeping over the keyboard :closedeyes:

Guys, i have no problem, but... why did you make that ventilators of engines stops when plane stops? You applied not correct argument for spinning of ventilator... Please correct it if you will have time.
