Bob Morton Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 Hi, A few months back the ED head guy stated that they were going to work harder to improve graphics for DCS on VR. He stated that the current program does not us the power of modern GPUs and is more intensive on CPUs which creates bottlenecks. anyone heard about these upgraded graphics for VR? I have not played in 6 months but want to get back into it and was wondering if there was going to be improved graphics. ricktoberfest Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 There were supposedly some VR improvements that were to be released back in the summer of 2019. Wags (Matt Wagner), an official ED honcho even mentioned them several times and then ED went dark and no one heard anything. Some VR users said they noticed something in the July, 2019 patch (I could be a bit off about the exact time) and others said they did not. As best I can tell, no VR improvements have been made to DCS in some time. I don’t think they went dark. They released the “fix” and very few people saw any improvement. They even had a forum poll for people to report any difference. Since then it’s been quiet of course but that’s most likely cause the fix didn’t really work.
Mr_sukebe Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I'm guessing that he was referring to the planned graphics engine update, which at best will arrive sometime next year. 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
dburne Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I saw some improvement at the time but it was hard to quantify. Bob Morton Posted November 7, 2020 Author Posted November 7, 2020 Hi - I was referring to the graphics engine update rather than the 2019 one. I guess this has not yet happened. I can’t wait though since I have a 2080ti but my CPU sucks. So I am probably limited by the CPU. Would love to have DCS draw more from the GPU. Cheers.
