Does anyone have issues with his dedicated DCS server?

Since the last update my server does not show up in the client server list. The log does not show anything unusual. The server is running as per WebUI

Also the Game Server page in in the DCS Account page shows the server running:

I can exclude any network issue on my side (firewall etc). There were no admistrative changes on the server except DCS update.

Best regards

Michael

Forgot to mention that if I try to connect via IP : PORT it's telling that the server is offline. But if so the WebGUI from DCS should not be able to see the server running

Portscan is also successful:

Host is up (0.012s latency).

PORT STATE SERVICE 10308/tcp open unknown

We suffer from this problem since weeks. Everything works fine for a while and then some of our instances are shown and others are not.

Direct connecting works, even if he says "server offline" a couple of times but after some tries you can connect.

There is no network issue on our side. Right now there are 4 instances running and the game servers page in the profile shows what you see on the attached image. You can connect to ALL the instances directly by IP:Port.

Sometimes all 4 instances are shown in browser and sometimes only one or two.

And it does not matter if there is 1 instance, 2 or 4 running, the error seems to appear randomly.

I recently built a standalone server, but have yet to get it to work.

I notice your last screen grab shows ports other than 10308... is this not standard or is the port number arbitrary, and where on the server is the port specified?

I can see mine via it's web GUI, is listed on the DCS profile/My Servers page, but I can't manage it from that list.

Getting similar issues since the most recent update too.

The server reports via the My servers page on the DCS site, and I can stop, start and restart mission no problem, but the server is not available for clients, even on the same LAN using the local IP address.

My logs also don't show any errors, or clients attempting to connect...

We've tried the following

  • Rebooted the Router
  • Deleted the Port Forwarding rules on the Router and re-created them
  • Issued a new IP address to the server, and repeated the above step again with the new IP
  • Deleted the Windows Firewall rules on the server and allowed access when the server starts up again

Still we get the server management page in the DCS profile page, but no response from any clients from the internet, nor locally on the same LAN.

After a lot of troubleshooting and diagnostics, it seems to be the Windows Firewall rules that have decided to block the Server, or that the server is simply not accepting requests, disabling Windows Firewall temporarily still didn't allow any connections. Despite deleting the rules, and re-creating them several times, the Dedicated server will not accept incoming connections over the client port (10308). I've been able to successfully run a mission on the same machine with the DCS game client running as a multiplayer host, but of course this isn't a long term solution.

I'm going to completely delete and re-install a fresh DCS Dedicated server to attempt to resolve the issue.

Windows Firewall - Allowed Apps - Remove old and replace / ensure DCS server is allowed app and tick Private and Public.

Forgive the necro post but I believe it's appropriate.

I recently suffered the same issue as the OP following the 2.9 DCS update in Oct 2023.

Reinstalled by DCS dedi server and again, exactly same issue as the OP.

Highwayman-ED's message above trigger this action. Cheers. Hope this works for you all also.

Hi I just had same issue with last update something made DCS get blocked by the firewall again but fixed by enabling and allowing connection through windows firewall. I think the new version added a new rule to the firewall that was blocked by default.

You should stop using "allow program" rule in your firewall settings, and start use port rules manually adding ports and protocols that you need. nothing else.

Nah, If you hate long list, you can just create two rules and enable all your instance at once, nothing else.
Since is not required/essential anymore to keep server offline while loading, it's totally safe to have just one rule to specify all the ports used from all different DCS instance. And you can simply create one for TCP and the second for UDP. that's all.

It's really something above DCS, it's a common practices. If you have a windows server that act as a license server, or any other services, NEVER add programs to the firewall exception, manually specify port used instead.

It's part of golden rules 😉
