9thHunt Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 the X56 throttle has a slider switch that is in approximately the same position as the speedbrake switch on the F-14 HOTAS (labeled as SLD), unfortunately, DCS only sees it as one button, pressed when the switch is in the ON position, meaning that while I can set it to extend the speed brake, it doesn't retract the brake when disengaged. Heatblur, I know there are lots of ON ELSE OFF type binds in the tomcat's control settings, would it be possible to add one for this? Barring that, does anyone know how to use the X56's programming software to make this work with the existing binds?
bonesvf103 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 I have the G Push set to extend the airbrakes (shift B) since they can extend in a range of positions. So I hold it until I get them where I want and release. To retract, I set the slider SLD to retract airbrakes (CTRL B). All of this done in the X56 software. Plus the two are over and under each other so it's easy to find and use them in tandem. v6, boNes "Also, I would prefer a back seater over the extra gas any day. Bailey Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 To make the SLD a speedbrake you either have to find a DCS keybind with a “Deploy, else In” function, or you need to mod the control in to DCS. Something like this may help https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312384/ Fyi, I have never used the above mod. shagrat Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Maybe this can help, should be similar on the X56: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/dcs-world-topics/input-and-output/155528-saitek-x55-slider-you-re-welcome-guys Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)

Shagrat's suggestion looks promising, and is probably a better long term solution, since it wouldn't get broken by DCS updates, although it was a bit hard to follow because the post's image links were all broken. I still think HB should consider adding this bind to the default commands, since it obviously can be done, and the X55/56 is a popular stick.
Bailey Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Nice, I am glad that it worked. Agreed.
