Foka Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Looks like you have something wrong binded to trim. After rising gear trim shold go from 16 to 0 and on your track it start to rice and keeps risng to 24 a makes you stall. Verify key bindings (not axis) to trim hat. 1
Foka Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 This is quite an odd issue to be having for sure, wish I could watch the track file replay.. This might help a bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1iEAXZiXIs
randomTOTEN Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Jim, the repair function for steam is RIGHT MOUSE > PROPTERTIES > LOCAL FILES > VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES you didn't need to uninstall and reinstall... computers are smarter than that now Foka, take control of his track and try it yourself.
Ziptie Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) Thanks Random Toten. I will try. And thanks Ziptie for the help too. I will try the repair. Also, I took off with auto flaps just to try and got airborne, flaps read 0 but within seconds went to 30% again. I think it's a bug. Yeah, your trim continuously increasing in NOSE UP is certainly incorrect. Seems like something is double bound to me. Bummer you already started to opt out of the beta (I run beta as there are at times, many more features available with it compared to stable), as it seems like something that could be sorted via a repair and/or searching for the trim bindings. I agree with the other member(s), certainly something odd going on there..... EDIT: Could it be that auto trim is checked in options menu and causing this issue? Other members care to weigh in on this possible cause being auto trim? I don't have any experience with auto trim being used personally, but have read where other members have had issues with it. randomTOTEN Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 It seemed like there was either a thrust or drag issue as well. I pitched over and trimmed the stabs to 0, and at MAX I was accelerating less than 5 knots a second in level flight. Also I took over his track immediately on replay start, and the airplane didn't pitch up at all off the shuttle even with 16 ANU. Nose level with the horizon off the deck into the water. It also didn't react to the salute keyboard binding despite me verifying that the binding was accurate and correctly bound. In general it just seemed like it was really messed up. Agree: Check auto-trim is off?
9thHunt Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Screen caps taken from your computer rather then a camera might help. Also, does this happen other times you use the cat, or just in that mission? Try doing the SC Cold Start mission instead of the one that starts you on the cat. 1
Jimd0586 Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 Ziptie and Random Totem, Lots to take in here. Ok, first chocks were removed. Two, I have noticed the salute issue too. I have bound it and re-bound the key but it never works. I have to go into comms to salute. I cannot find auto-trim in the options. Don't know where it would be. I made a second track from Cold Start and still the same issue. The uninstall->reinstall didn't help. In fact it saved my old settings so if I do it again I need to find away to ensure it is fully erased next time. Track 2 shows start from cold start... I used the autolaunch sequence and then trimmed to 16 before launch. The game is a legitimate copy. I purchased it on steam. I am just so frustrated because this is my four day weekend to really enjoy the game and now I am suddenly having problems with it. I have no clue what to do. Issues launching from cold start.trk
Jimd0586 Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 We can say it is not the joystick or throttle at least. If others are having the same issue then we know it doesn't stem from the HOTAS.
Foka Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 I'm 99% sure you have something messed up with trim bindings. Look at this comparison - your start and mine. After landing gear retract in both cases trim resets to neutral, but your immidiately starts to go up and mine doesn't. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_koFSGkqKdA
Ryanwtod Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Check your game setting, I had the same issue, I must have hit game on the flight model not simulation or whatever it is. The Hornet doesn't like that and acts like a pig
Foka Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Try starting the mission mid air ("Turning point" in Mission Editor) and check if trim changes this same way.
NeMoGas Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 If you don't remove wheel chocks it will force you into the drink. I have seen this many times in MP where the game spawns someone already on the CAT. It's pretty funny to watch, and I get a good laugh every time. :megalol:
Jimd0586 Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 All, (Especially Foka, Random Totem, and Ziptie) I think it is now fixed. I don't know exactly what fixed it but I will explain what I did. Eagle Dynamics Tech Support (which responded VERY quickly) suggested that I turn off avionics mode and game mode (just like Ryanwtod suggested). They were already both unticked, but i ticked and unticked them again. Then I reset all bindings for F/A-18C Sim to default: joystick, throttle, mouse, and keyboard. I went to takeoff and this time the binding for salute DID work which was a good sign. I took off on Supercarrier with hand off stick and got AIRBORNE!!!! stabs then went from 16 back down toward zero. Gear up, flaps to auto and I was zipping around without a problem. Thanks everyone for the help. You guys and this community generally are pretty awesome. I owe you!

Ziptie Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Landing on the carrier is so damn difficult. But at least I have a fighting chance now! Yes sir, that is a big improvement compared to 24 hours ago for sure! Get the aircraft setup for landing nice and early when starting out. Don't worry about following the pattern to start, just line up aft of the boat, do your best to keep on speed AOA (indicators to the left of the HUD), do your best to keep the velocity vector on the 3 wire and you should be constantly making adjustments to the throttle to accomplish all the things above. Don't line up too far out, as sometimes this can actually become more difficult to get the aircraft onto the boat. There is a recent thread with a little bit of general advice for getting the aircraft onto the boat here: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/digital-combat-simulator/dcs-f-a-18c-hornet/7154274-carrier-landing There are other good videos / documents out there, but I don't think it's worth getting too caught up in bunch of details at the beginning.
