There's been a whole debacle about getting the F-18 versus the F-16 module as a first choice. I chose the F-16 because of Dogfighting. Regardless, I don't see any campaigns coming in about 6 months, why? The F-18 has 2 or 3 already and it is an all time favorite.

I assume that its because the F-16 is no way near as "mature" as the F/A-18.
The F-16 still needs a lot of development before its worthwhile to make a campaign for it.
Dont forget that campaigns can still be made by the campaign developers even though the Viper aint  mature yet, they could just be waiting for the F-16 developers to "catch up" before they release.

This is a geusstimate, but i dont think that any campaigns will come out for the Viper in the first quarter of 21.
There are still a lot of sensors, systems and weapons to be developed for the Viper to make interesting campaigns.

It's been 6 months but the Hornet has a 2 year head start.

Thank you everyone. The name of the campaigns on that list are aptly selected: Red Flag and Iron Eagle(LMAO). It's obvious I made a mistake getting the F-16 first then as it was still under development six months ago (and still is). I should've taken my time to learn more about the DCS development process and use that as a criteria. Given all the announcements they make on Steam and inside the app and what is mentioned in your responses it's obvious it was a little too soon. It is obvious now that I was looking for confirmation bias based solely on a single characteristic: the ability to escape a fight and do BVR and ignored EVERYTHING else.

I mean when you think about the patterns here it really is obvious. I didn't know the F-16 was that new though as there was plenty of media about by the time I made my decision.

I started with Flaming Cliffs because I came from Lock On and Su-27 as well as the A-10, so I already knew Eagle Dynamics. I was so focused on the Su-27 I ignored the fact that the F-15 has no training missions. Nowadays with the Internet you can still make up for things like that but it's obvious at this point that just because a module for a plane is released doesn't mean it has everything you think you can expect. It takes time, and that's ok. I had the wrong expectations of how things work. It's obvious that the Internet REALLY has changed how things get done.

I find the training mission cover everything quite well.  After that, I find it's best to create simple missions where you can go blow stuff up.  You can go quite far towards creating your own campaigns with the Mission Editor.

@baltic_dragon has a campaign for the F-16 in planning stage, set in Persian Gulf. It will be a while before it's done, though.

Actually it won't be in PG but in Syria. Some more info here (FACEBOOK)

You can check out DCS Liberation. It's a dynamic campaign generator, and will let you generate missions for the F-16 on any map in the game. It's probably the best way to get campaign content for the F-16 right now.

This is a wonderful recommendation. Liberation gave me 30 hours of flying fun in the Viper so far. Still the plane has many bugs, some very irritating ones like the TGP/Mav/SPI problems. For that reason I decided to put it on the side for now. I don't necessarily want more weapons, I just want what we have to work properly. At the moment that is not really the case. Still a superb plane, very fun to fly, but too young as a DCS Module.

The Hornet is very boring to fly, but landing on the carrier is fun as hell, most things work in that module, and the DLC campaigns are of solid quality (I can vouch for Serpent's Head 2, which I finished, and Raven One of course, which I am playing through right now). As was said, it has a 2 year head start and it shows. It is not the most exciting plane but you can do many exciting things with it still.

Not at this point, I swapped it for a Harrier as it fits the plans better (campaign will start a week or two after events described in Coup d’Etat).

I’ve posted a couple of the User Files site. Arab Spring and Deliberate Force. They were built in the early days, so feel free to change loadout snow the Viper has more weapons
