doubleugoose Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 I noticed the Speedbrakes do not go to fully open position at touchdown (weight on wheel switches activated) as in real they do. Is this a possible update?
=Panther= Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 (edited) Did you activate the switch again? Once NLG strut compresses on landing, press and hold switch, speed brakes will fully open to their 60° angle. Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 You don't want them to hit the ground on touch-down. Once the nose starts dropping with full aft stick, you can hit the override. doubleugoose Posted December 10, 2020 Author Posted December 10, 2020 @=Panther=, Yes activating the switch is an option......BUT in real life the speedbrakes open to fully position at touchdown.....that was my point. @Elysian Angel, If you keep a good AOA at landing they won't.....
ruddy122 Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 So you have to remember nose wheel comes down pop the speed brakes or hold the speed brakes switch for full extension interestingSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] LUCKY:pilotfly::joystick: Computer Specs CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz| GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 6Gb | RAM: 32 GB DDR4 @ 3000 MHz | OS: Win 10 64 bit | HD: 500 Gb SSD

llOPPOTATOll Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Everyone missed his point he was saying when F-16s IRL touch down the speedbrakes automatically open.

Florence201 Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 HAF F-16CJ-1 denotes: The speedbrakes open to 60 degrees with the right MLG not down and locked. With the right MLG down and locked, speedbrake opening is limited to 43 degrees to prevent the lower surfaces from striking the runway during landing. This limit can be overridden by holding the SPD BRK switch in the open (aft) position. When the NLG strut compresses on landing, the speedbrakes can be fully opened and remain fully open without holding the SPD BRK switch. So speedbrakes CAN be fully opened with NLG strut compress. Appears this is not automatic in any way [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
llOPPOTATOll Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 When the gear comes down the speedbrakes automatically retract a bit but you can fully open them by holding the Speedbrake switch. 1

Correct. They do not auto-override on touchdown. Don't know where the OP has his false information from.
Frederf Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 The SB will open to 60° at all times but it simply won't stay there when you release the switch. The 0-43° range will hold at all times. The 43-60° range will hold only with landing gear up (might be tied to the handle) or NLG WOW. The pilot upon landing and putting the nose wheel down must manually activate the switch open to increase the brakes to the full 60°. It's not automatic. 2
