I noticed that boxing TRIG when dropping laser guided munitions that the automatic lasing happens anyway. So under what circumstance one would want to select this option? Is it only for buddy lasing?

I think it’s for the Rifles/Mavs and not the pickles. Standing by for clarification.

Automatic lasing works with any laser-guided weapon. For LGBs, they must be configured to drop in AUTO. Using the TRIG option can be useful if dropping LGBs in CCIP.

Come again? What is that config you said?

Correct, on the STORES page, LGBs must be set to drop in AUTO mode to enable automatic lasing.

Thanks.

I just tested and while in CCIP on the stores page but AUTO due to having a TGT made, auto lasing works anyway. So I guess it is dependant on the actual mode rather than the stores program.

Correct, when a TGT point exists, bombs are automatically configured for AUTO release. If you undesignate and remove the TGT point, automatic lasing will be disabled if the weapon is set to CCIP.

You can keep the designation and change from AUTO to CCIP on the STORES page.

BTW, do the release programs work properly yet? Have to check it tonight.

No need for Laser Mavs neither. Just hit the Pickle button once to start lasing. Second Pickle press will fire the Mav.

But yeah. Buddylasing, IR Marking or if you like to do it manually 🙂

Riddle me this. Had some targets set up on top of the mountains south of Kobuleti airfield. GBU-16's on the wings, Auto mode. Laser was on auto too. I would pickle and laser would fire on it's own but the bombs were missing by 50-100 yrds (im estimating badly here). On my last shot I went to Trig, fired the laser immediately after the bomb released and it hit. I thought maybe with the higher elevation of the mountains maybe the laser wasn't coming on it time? Next time out same scenario, but used trig for all 4 shots. fired laser immediately after I pickle, all four hit. Tried again with Auto laser and all four hit? I can't figure out what I was doing wrong to make them miss the first time???? Sadly I cant remember what angels I was flying at for any of these setups. I think the lowest was maybe 15 and MAYBE 25 at the most.

Did you use the laser range finder before dropping your GBU-12 with auto lasing? Maybe your target coordinates were simply not accurate enough for the GBU-12 to guide into the target.

nope can confirm never once used that. I figured the t-pod is pointed right at the target and if the diamond is over the target everything should be as accurate as it can be? In my head if the laser is pointing right at the target, the bomb just rides the laser all the way in. It's not a GPS guided bomb, there is no co-ordinate handoff to the bomb. Why did it work the third time when I did nothing different. It doesn't really matter because it isn't a consistent problem. Just something that happened one time I thought was strange AF. Honestly I think it was a net code issue. I failed to mention this was on an MP server I frequent. I'm just getting into MP and I'm not gonna lie there is some extreme wonkiness in multiple aspects going on I have not experienced in SP.

Don't overthink it. The hornet isn't working well since one or two months and it presents some bugs in a very erratic way. I myself saw bugs that could not reproduce even two times.

It is what it is.

How did the GBU-12 miss? Did it fall short?

In the end you still designate a Targetpoint for your CCRP/Auto release and then the GBU does everything it can to get there (Bang-Bang Guidance except the new GBU-24).

But if the targetpoint wasnt accurate enough, your release solution could simply release the bomb to early -> The GBU would Fall short.

My GBU's normaly hit the with Auto lasing.

I have had moments where the TGT is right in elevation and coordinates but the AUTO bomb works wrong and drop it so long that the seeker never finds the laser.

Ya they we're actually missing long. I didn't think about the release point at all. Regardless it doesn't seem to be a consistent problem. Mine usually hit too, but I don't typically put trucks on top of mountains for targets. I though the extra elevation might be affecting me. Thanks boys!

Another day I dropped an LGB at a target and only then realised the laser was off. I managed to flip the switch, enable trigger lasing and manually lased the target until the bomb hit. I don't know if automatic lasing would have started in this scenario, but if not - here's a reason to use the feature.

actually you press and hold the pickle button. laser will fire, maverick will lock, then it will launch. no need to press it twice.

I always do one press, look if its properly locked and then press again and the Maverick goes of the rail. A long press works apparently as well. Nice.
