Habu_69 Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Is it possible in the current state of the Hornet to select an ILS station in the cockpit by its frequency?
Tholozor Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 (edited) The Hornet doesn't use airfield-based ILS, but carrier-based ICLS. They operate on pre-determined channels (frequencies) so setting them manually isn't required. Recluse Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 But you can set the proper ICLS Channel from the UFC with the ILS button.
jetsimace Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 OK, good to know as I haven't been able to select ILS at Nevada map / Groom Lake AFB (109.3 MHz = channel 30) due to the fact that for F-18 the highest selectable ILS channel in cockpit is channel #20.

It doesn't really matter. Even if you could select the proper channel, it wouldn't work. The Hornet does not have ILS equipment, the ICLS system is not interoperable with land-based ILS. Brass2-1 Posted May 12, 2021 Posted May 12, 2021 Some land-based only Export Hornets do have ILS, but our US Navy replica does not.
