Rooster7755 Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 (edited) Ok so first off great campaign so far im loving it. I can seem to find these little fast movers in the Tpod to save my life. I know they are there and im looking in night vision mode, flir, and all the stuff but its a small boat on a cold ocean, so I dunno, Im pretty sure I just need to get better at target acquisition but man, anyone else have trouble here:? any tips and tricks or pearls of wisdom? Edited January 18, 2021 by Rooster7755
baltic_dragon Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 The visibility of the boats changed 3 times since I built the mission with different updates. You can wait for them to start shooting at you, let Olive do the work or approach them from north - west I think flying low, they will be more visible IIRC. baltic_dragon Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Hey I just checked it - you can see them when you get close. Also, remember that you can increase the goggles gain, which helps a lot! baltic_dragon Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 LOL OK pic isn’t great but I did see them on my screen. Though I 100% agree they should be more visible. 1 For more information, please visit my website. speed-of-heat Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 i admit i turned dots back on just so i could have a hope in hell of seeing them ... Teleblaster Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 Yeah I have dots on as well because I have an Oculus CV1 and I need all the help I can get lol, but even the dots don’t help much because they’re always offset from the target at a completely unpredictable angle, and they disappear through the goggles anyway. I primarily depend on Olive although I do usually manage to get one or two by pure luck and it’s fun trying at least. I admit I lol’d at @baltic_dragon’s goggles pic. Yeah, that looks about right
Rooster7755 Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 LIke he said I just let the wingman kill em lol. I try with dots on and can get close but yea. Def not an issue with the mission just with DCS and rendering small stuff at night ?
Arbil Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I really want to like this mission but between having to use labels to see the enemies and barely being able to read the symbology on my MAV and TGP pages it's just big pain in the ass. Like others have said, definitely not the campaign creator's fault, just limitations of DCS itself.
baltic_dragon Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I hear you. Fortunately (SPOILER!) you don’t need to destroy all the boats to win For more information, please visit my website. War_Pig Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 I had the same problem (unable to see them at all, NVG's useless in VR). Instead I depend solely on the A2G Radar in SEA mode. I run in, pick a target, and hit it with a salvo, then back out. Plus, the radar seems to give me the target's heading/aspect and speed, so that I can lead with the rockets. I assumed this must be how the Hornet was intended to be employed in this mission. So far I have not completed this mission due to life interrupting me near the end (almost made it back to the boat 3x times and keep having to stop playing), but have been able to whittle down the fast movers pretty effectively several times. Typically we've cleaned up all but 2-3, last time there was only one left when I went winchester on rockets and 20mm. Great mission Baltic, I'm thoroughly enjoying this campaign, it's driven me to really learn the Hornet and become a better DCS pilot! 1
ruprecht Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Just finished this one, I did have trouble spotting the fast movers and couldn't lock the cruiser (my fault, I need to learn to Maverick) and I think Olive ran out of gas as she was doing bunny hops off the ocean. I took it real easy coming out from the boat but she was in burner for a lot of it. #DCS-AI-Things Might be worth scripting a minimum fuel hack for Olive if that's possible, as AI fuel management is teheribble? Good fun, and I (virtually) got chewed out by Marshal for initially stacking on the reciprocal radial. Doh.
