Csgo GE oh yeah Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 The HUDS have looked the same since flaming cliffs , and with that i mean the hud lighting (the green) Normally in HUDS you get sort of a 3d effect. (i've seen it in cars and such) . In DCS it looks bad, is this effect so hard to duplicate maybe ? (video below has timestamp, just click it it's not only about kangaroos) 1
Kang Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 1.) Disappointed in the lack of kangaroo content right there 2.) I disagree on them being 'still the same'. For example the HUD of the Ka-50 has undergone some change with the recent (in DCS terms) cockpit overhaul and I think that kinda addressed what you mean.
Caster Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 It does look more like that in VR, I imagine it's a limitation of the 2D rendering 5 Fly fast and leave a pretty wreck
Northstar98 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Yeah, for the most part, unless you're in VR, they'll look 2D, as that's how they're being rendered, for a non-stereoscopic, 2D screen. For me, I'm perfectly fine with this, my main gripe with displays are the maybe exaggerated bloom effects, even at low brightness settings. Csgo GE oh yeah Posted January 25, 2021 Author Posted January 25, 2021 Yeah i noticed it does give a slight 'bloom' effect in VR . It's ok i guess, just wondering because depending on the lighting outside it can look either pretty good, or really flat. It's not terribly important though, i was just curious
Fri13 Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 There still are some problems with the HUD rendering. They are not bright enough for bright scenes as they should. Meaning you should make out what HUD display shows even when you have a white cloud behind the HUD. The rendering has just became possible for SVG (AFAIK) so we could get a sharper and more detailed texts and symbols. The rendering doesn't happen "at infinity", they still look to happen in the HUD glass. The rendering can happen outside the CRT projector field of view. The CRT projector at the root of HUD is projected on a perfectly flat glass that is slightly tinted to reflect the bright clouds or sunlight shining from the opposite side and reflect more of the CRT inside cockpit. And the HUD will project only straight up, it is not ultra wide projector lens or anything, just straight upward. And it is focused to infinity so when you are looking HUD and then looking outside, your eyes doesn't need to focus at different distances and it makes easier to aim at something far away front of you, as the HUD symbols are just superimposed on anything that is "far out there". And this cause the common problem that some modules has, the HUD projection is larger than the HUD projector lens itself is. Meaning the HUD symbols and such should be smaller, only fitting to area that CRT projector lens can cover. And when you look it with that flat display reflection, it stays still while your point of view changes, so the reticle doesn't shift around as pivot point is not in HUD but at infinity. This is as well visible in many HUD rendering that you can see the symbols at edges of HUD where CRT doesn't beam anything, so HUD's are sometimes larger than they should. 1 2 i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
Snowblind Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 in the newer modules, in morning or evening the hud defo has a bloom effect when you put brightness at max, i think just during the mid day sun (most servers are at this, you dont get the effect because the lighting is so flat 8700k @5.2ghz delided \ Asus Maxiumus XI code \ RTX 3090 FE \ 32GB DDR4 corsair vengeance RGB @3600 \ 1TB Samsung 960 pro NVME \ 1TB samsung 850evo \ 2TB WD black HDD \ MFG crosswind v2 \ Virpil WARBRD X2 Constellation Alpha L+R and Mongoose CM3 throttle \ ASUSPG348Q 100hz 34 ultrawide [/i]https://imgur.com/a/VjNEllM
