We all excited actually. But it will be a long time before we will see a release of LO successor.

Well, I'm guessing it will come out by 2010, by which time I would hopefully finish my university and be finishing my PhD :D

Well, start saving for Trak IR3 and 6DOF. Clickable cockpit may bring us 6DOF, or at least I hope it will! 8)

That sounds awesome, I heard that it may feature the F-16 and A-10 as flyables. Theres certainly alot more you can do in a clickable pit.

cheers

F-16 flyable? Oh yeah, looks like ill be returning to the USAF (in game of course :P) then! (I love that plane)

A-10 is a flyable already :D

Maybe its an A-10 with AFM and a fully working clickable pit, who knows I guess we'll have to wait and see. Either way even if they just used the same model off Lockon and gave it an AFM like the Su25 I'd still fly it.

cheers

That would be cool but I think it'd get old real quick. I'd rather see virtual hand operating the dials and switches when I hit the keyboard.

ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Agreed but I'll bet that's MUCH easier said than done. Imagine having to render moving 3d pilot arms constantly while flying. Kill the fps.

And it will also kill an ED's animators, who will have to create not only animation of every button in cockpit pressed\released, but with all possible sequences combination, otherwise when you will think about choosing your TACAN channel by pressing e.g. "129" , you'll see your hand taking off from HOTAS, pressing "1", then going on HOTAS again, then moving to press "2" and back, and finally "9".

I pretty sure it would be a fun to watch such movements for a first 5 minutes, but then...

that's why I don't think hands animation worth it. Eye candy isn't a thing which is more important for us virtual pilots then improved FM, DM, or avionics.

Agreed, Dmut! But it doesn't change the fact that, to me, it is pretty weird to see my legs all the time, but no arms... I feel... dismembered! :o I'd rather have no legs showing in the inside cockpit views than this incongruency.

I'm sure this has been said before but "JSF" anyone?? Not only could you see your arms but after ejection, you could carry a gun while you'd explore the 3D world on the ground...

Then again, forget what I just said and let's have all flyables with the advanced flight model??

FlyHigh and Check Six!

Muttley, out.

Although.... you could just add arms but have them never leave the stick and throttle. Would look better than no arms at all, wouldn't take to long to animate and wouldn't be to hard on fps, if at all.

What do you reckon? Just a suggestion of course, I'm not hugely fussed.

Only for the first five minutes? heh Damn, talking bout short attention span. :D

It would be better than clickable pit imo. Add to immersion on those dark rainy nights.

I got tired of clicking after a while. Unless we get a touch screen, of course.

Cheers
