From the Heatblur manual:
The JAMMER section controls the ejection of jammer cartridges in programmed mode.
QTY sets how many jammer cartridges to eject, possible settings are 1-4.
INTV uses all three indicated thumbwheels to set time in seconds between each ejection in the program. Settings from 1 to 299 possible in 1 second increments.
Note

Jammer cartridges not currently implemented in DCS.

Also from the heatblur manual:

"Jammer cartridges not currently implemented in DCS"

I wouldn't expect to see them for the next couple of years if ever.

I think the Cartridges are Gen X expendables "Decoys" that send out signals to a radar or missile that the aircraft is "Here"

The other Gen X decoy is a towed jammer that does the same.

I believe these countermeasures are deployed from canisters that take a spot on a weapons rack. More protection but loose some room for bombs and missiles.

Wdigman, my understanding is that they fit into the chaff & or flare dispenser crates.

Yes, they do.   One example is BriteCloud and there's a bunch of others also.  They replace chaff/flare cartridges in appropriate buckets.  I think there are two sizes and the larger one is required.

IIRC those jammer cartridges have never actually been used on the Tomcat IRL. The system to use them was there, but the actual cartridges have never been put into service with the Tomcat.

So no, we won't get them in DCS either.

The jammers indicated on the ALE-39 are jammer cartridges that were supposed to go in the same launchers as the chaff and flares like has been mentioned here.

They were supposed to be launched the same way but when launched were activated as jammers.

If this is ever implemented in DCS we might add it but our sources point towards these never really being a thing at all even if the launchers were prepared for them. That or them being so secret they never were used or something. Who knows.

It looks like it was a 'future capability' thing and I haven't been found any mention of it, even of research into it back in those years.   I'll look harder but I think you're right, it just never was used.

I just found out about BriteCloud a few days ago as it happens.  The earlier ones I remember being marketed or in development, were Gen-X and I think one called Poet or something like that.

Looks like the F/A-18C might get the RT-1489/ALE

Yes, the GEN-X dispensable decoy  has been on ED's official feature list for the Hornet since 2017:

Quote

Decoys:

  • ADM-141 TALD
  • GEN-X

Unlike the jammer cartridges for the Tomcat, the GEN-X on the Hornet has actually been in service IRL (still is?).
