This video goes through the new features and highlights some the key differences with its predecessor, the MCG Pro. I hope it provides some useful information for existing MCG Pro owners considering whether to upgrade when it becomes available to order again. I, for one, highly recommend adding it to your flight sim set up!

Nice video review. I am loving my Ultimate grip for sure, it truly is the ultimate.

I went with all black (stealth) button caps.

Thanks, I know know what you mean. My MCG Pro feels like a cheap piece of plastic next to it!

nice review and good tunes.

Looks good and would likely enjoy if I swapped to it from my Pro.

The thing is though, unless the rest of your setup is complete and you have every other thing you wish for in the world, why would you spend a chunk of money on upgrading to this?

Yes the MCG Pro is a very nice grip and has pretty much the same functionality (with exception of twist grip axis of the Ultimate and interchangeable hats).

That cold metal just feels so good with my hand wrapped around it, and it just exudes quality. For me it really compliments the Gunfighter base nicely.

Plus the interchangeable Hats of the Ultimate is a nice feature. I changed my POV for button hats.

Echoing what dburne mentioned, the solid metal feel of the Ultimate coupled with the interchangeable hats / ministicks make it a genuine upgrade, rather than just an over indulgence.

Looking forward to seeing how their modular throttle turns out.

OK, will you stop encouraging people to buy Ultimate grip? At least until I buy it. After that, all of you can buy it as much as you want.

While I thoroughly love the improvements offered by the Ultimate, if you already have an MCG Pro, it is still an over indulgence. The new optional hat switches feel great compared to the analog sticks they replace. All of the buttons and levers feel better, too. The weight and feel from the metal body and textured rubber grip are great. But, the MCG Ultimate doesn't really add any functionality. The MCG Pro was already my most versatile grip and I even retrofitted the twist grip. It is not a cost effective upgrade. There is no significant justification for replacing my MCG Pro.

But I had bonus overtime money. The cpu and gpu market are so over-inflated right now that I am holding off on what I really need: a new PC with a high end gpu for VR as mine was built in 2014. So I indulged myself with an MCG Ultimate and I don't regret it one bit, but I will not deny that it was an unnecessary purchase that many would see as a waste of money that could have used more wisely.

From a practicality standpoint, it mostly comes down to whether one doesn't like to be stuck with two analog hats on the Pro.  The light status and material is quite secondary to that imo.

Damn... I'm mixed.  On the one hand almost completely satisfied with MCG Pro... OTOH would like a more premium feel since it functions great but felt a little disappointing TBH. One hand again perfectly functional... OTOH, $300 more bucks...

Works fine with Gunfighter 2 with old black box on extension?  I'm using one #50 and one #30...

On my Mk III Gunfighter with original MCG Pro grip I was using one #50 on each axis.

After replacing with the Ultimate grip, I added a #30 in addition to the #50 for each axis.

Feels about right now for my tastes.

I will tell you I spend around 3-5 hours a day with flight simming.

To me having my hand wrapped around the Ultimate grip just feels so much nicer, and I spend a lot of hours doing so. I would not want to go back to the original MCG Pro now, as good as it is.
