Like said in the former thread: i would prefer DCS to be FF only.

I would not mind the (FF replaced) FC3 modules to be moved to MAC tho (provided DCS/MAC are two separate entities that do not mix up simmers and gamers).

(edit: just to clarify, this update from FC3 to FF module ofc should not be free. I'm all happy to pay full price for a FF module even if i already owned the FC3 variant - Su-25A when? 😛 )

That's why I killed the other thread someone didn't grasp that buying it was implied. Anyhow I figure converting missions would be easy. you give the modules the same name so that when DCS is reading a mission file, it loads up the  FF version. I hope that they move flaming cliffs to MAC and the only thing separating the two will be systems complexity.  I would love it if MAC and DCS can fly on the same server and even share missions. We all know folks who play War Thunder, who might did FC but won't dig FF (Yet).

Imho I'd like to have both. Sometimes after the whole day at work, you are too exhausted to play FF module. With FC3 you just have to hit couple of times the keyboard and then just fly.

I am against this statement. If they moved FC3 to MAC and we would be able to play both DCS and MAC on one server, what would be the whole point of it to move FC3 away from DCS?

There are several points.  The point to making them separate products is that DCS is the deep end and MAC is the shallow end. From what it looks like there is supposed to be an MAC version of every DCS module.

Now why should they have cross platform play? I think it will lead to more sales for both products.  I think you will be more likely to get an MAC user to take the plunge into DCS if they are already playing with DCS players.  If they don't we can still use the FF version while the War Thunder bros use MAC. Next if an MAC module is good enough it could be a stand in for any module that doesn't meet the DCS standards (yet). For example we have late model a late model F-18 and F-16 but we can't get the Chinese and Russian counterparts since Moscow and Beijing both refuse to provide enough information.  Then there are some older planes where there just isn't enough data either.  Keeping them compatible but separate might be able to cut down on the work for the developers.

Putting gamers and simmers on one server just does not work out due to their dramatically different expectations of "fun". That's why im strictly against mixing MAC/DCS and i hope this never happens.

How about leaving it as an option which someone setting up a server or looking for a server could configure?

As before I don't think a purchased product should change into something else. I'd never use the FC3 planes if they had DCS modules, but not everyone would do the same.

Where did you get the idea from?

From official statements it were supposed to be ED products (except MiG-21) and not all of them.

Remember that since that announcement in 2018, MAC idea evolved - that's why it was not released at all yet. As it stands now, only ED knows (hopefully they do) what is going to be included and how is it going to work (as separate product / or from within DCS World).

Reasking to make things clearer

It takes just few clicks to uninstall FC3 MiG-29 from DCS World.

Also, as far as we know, FF MiG-29is the only one planned, so let's not forget about people that use FC3 MiG-29G and S. No point asking about other airframes yet as it would be the same as asking IF the ED's MiG-21 should replace Leatherneck's one - not happening anytime soon, right - never, actually I think.

The a is the only one planned so far.  However we are talking about what is supposed to be the same. model of the same plane with an upgraded avionics and cockpit modeling. There are pros and cons to replacing and keeping them both. The main pro replacing it is backwards compatibility with missions. The con is you lose the flaming cliffs version of the mig-29.

I know I play around with the A-10A I have both versions of the A-10C, so I'm one of the folks you are talking about. So my own vote was I would go for the upgrade if MAC is available.
