VireVolte_tigrou Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Since many times, I often complain some simmers about the absence of this nice little fighter. So, tired of waiting, I decided to begin the modelisation of this plane ! After some unsuccesful tries in mesh editing, I decided to use NURBS surfaces to model general shapes. And it works nicely : The great advantage of NURBS is you can finely built shapes and adjust number of faces with one parameter (useful when creating LoDs...). (to be continued) 4
Cpt Stark Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 yeah :) good work tigrou :) and good luck :)
Kuky Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 good luck with modeling.... it's looking promising PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Sir_Troooper Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Hey Tigrou! :) Its looking very nice, keep it up my friend. ;) A.K.A Csocso
VireVolte_tigrou Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 Thank you ! ;) I continue : the aft fuselage has been transformed into mesh, then wings built by extrusion... ... and rudder : (I'm looking for a genuine giant Pick Szalami... ;) ) (to be continued) 2
Renato71 Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Nice work so far! I hope you will be able to complete this model as a fully flyable DCS addon :D I'm selling MiG-21 activation key. Also selling Suncom F-15E Talon HOTAS with MIDI connectors, several sets. Contact via PM.
shaggy Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Great work bro! Intel Core i7-8700 3,20GHz - EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC2 - 32Gb Ram - DCS on 500 GB SSD - Windows 10 - Thrusmaster Warthog - Thrustmaster TPR pedals - Track Ir 5 - Samsung Odyssey+ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://www.virtualredarrows.com
VireVolte_tigrou Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 Nice work so far! I hope you will be able to complete this model as a fully flyable DCS addon :D I don't know if there will be enough polys ! :D It should be kept under 15.000 faces. An over view with both wings and rudder. Wingtips pylons had been re-designed too.
Cpt Stark Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I don't know if there will be enough polys ! :D It should be kept under 15.000 faces. ouch 15k faces, seems to be poor I think 30k faces will be better for the first LOD ;) (between 0 and 30/60 meters) you will be able to detail gears, pilot, cockpit with a better quality then, 15k faces will be good for second LOD :)
Kuky Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 How many LOD stages is LockOn allowing? I guess the more the better the transittion from high poly model to dot on the screen... PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
Cpt Stark Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I don't know if there is a limit I just know that Rafale 3D model is 4 LODs ;) but I think that 4 or 5 LODs should be good 25/30k poly for LOD0 15k for LOD1 10k for LOD2 5k for LOD3 2k for LOD4 for exemple ... some real 3D modeler should confirm :)
OldCrow Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Very nice! Finally someone stepping up for the job! Keep it up! [sIGPIC]http://www.virtualredarrows.com/member_sigs/vra2012_crow.png[/sIGPIC]
RvEYoda Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 (edited) Dont forget 20 dps sustained/30 dps instantaneous rate, (at least what i read somewhere) but awful low TWR and crap climb rate. Though sources are rare, and some say it's actually much much worse :P Also should have significantly smaller visual and RCS than mig29. (engine hidden for reduced RCS, effectively 1/10 of older f-16 RCS) Then you have to decide if you want to model the new AESA variant (not yet in production) or the classic C model :P Edited September 29, 2008 by =RvE=Yoda S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'
VireVolte_tigrou Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 C model ! ;) Don't forget I can easily modify shape and increase number of faces... 1
VireVolte_tigrou Posted September 29, 2008 Author Posted September 29, 2008 Flaps and ailerons on the way. ;) 2
