correct as is AGR undesignated EXP TDC missing?

With realistic TDC disabled selecting an EXP sub-level will not allow the EXP scan zone to be slewed unless TDC depress is held. This logic would make sense if there was a TDC cursor as well with this sub-level however there is not one in DCS. Either a yellow TDC cursor is missing in the undesignated EXP sub-level, or the slew function with realistic TDC slew disabled is bugged. I demonstrate this in the track. Hope someone can look into this.

I don't think the OP argues that it's wrongly implemented (it's not, TDC Depress allows to slew and TDC release commands the new point, that's OK).

I think the request is about removing the need to press and hold the TDC to slew, for users who uncheck the "Realistic TDC" option, since they cannot Depress and Slew at the same time.

With realistic TDC slew, all is good. However with the unrealistic TDC special options check box ED added for Wharthog users, the behavior is expected to be the same as Mavs with this option checked. There is no "correct as is" by IRL documentation as this is a fictional option that ED added.

Is there any reason that the the A/G radar with EXP X boxed and unrealistic TDC slew enabled, would act differently from the Maverick slew where TDC depress isn't required?

It goes back to intention of fictional feature. It works only for specific circumstance where normal slewing is done while holding control depressed but without depressed requirement. In all other contexts where it would be useful it doesn't alleviate need to hold control depressed.

 

I think this confuses people. They are thinking, "You know that I don't have a joystick that makes it practical to slew and hold down control at the same time. Why would you make it only work in one situation instead of all of them?" There seems to be an expectation that the special option will make slewing-while-holding-depressed not required throughout the whole airplane.

 

I don't know if this is practical to completely remove the need for the TDC depress function entirely but that seems to be what people expect when they check that option.
