The pitch up issue has been around for a while but it's always been very infrequent to the point to where it isn't a issue but it has always happened very randomly I mean you could do numerous flights and not even have it appear but it seems to be happening more frequently since the update. I pretty much fly the A-10 5 days a week and before the update I almost never ran into it but since the update it has become rather frequent, I'll come out of a overhead break on downwind trimming like crazy to prevent the nose from pitching down then come off the perch and as I reach the threshold I'll cut the power and begin a flair then it's like all the trim I put in suddenly catches up then the nose wants to shoot for the sky and it's go around time, a interesting twist is once you execute a go around everything is fine like I've never went for a go around and then had it happen again...
Yurgon Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I haven't seen this while test-flying a bunch of campaign missions recently, but those were mostly academic in nature and didn't require a whole lot of maneuvering. If you can catch the issue in a track, even if it's a lengthy one, that would certainly help (even better with a timestamp where it manifests). I'll also ask my squad mates to keep a look out.

Come to think of it I have been flying my missions off of a mission template where I basically have a A-10 that I consistently use that way I don't have to set up the ARC-210 comms everytime I build a new mission I'm going to delete the A-10 from the mission template and I'll place another one down and see I'll see if it fixes the issue...
db349 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 To the moderator, I was unable to create a new message in the thread with the same title ("This topic is now closed to further replies") so I'm starting a new thread for the same topic, thanks for merging them together! After a long absence from the A10C I wanted to jump back in and was disappointed to learn that this issue is still not resolved, many tracks have already been provided in this long thread and it's an outstanding bug that's been around for a long time, many years ! I was now able to recreate the issue about 5 times in a row, using the Afghanistan instant action mission for the A10CII Runway Start. I will include a track, don't know if it will work and recreate the exact same circumstances, haven't tried it yet myself, but I will try to explain in detail what I'm doing, here goes: After takeoff I make a right turn parallel to the runway (downwind) towards Heras, I drop my stores to lighten up a bit, I continue more or less straight ahead until about 10NM out make a right turn due east overflying the city at very low level. At some point here (more or less before crossing the extended centerline for RWY18) I experience a strong pitch down effect (for which I have to trim to compensate). With the controls window open I didn't notice any shift in Trim nor Elevator input, at least none that I could see clearly. Then I gain some altitude and turn back to the right for a straight in to RWY18. Slowing down and configuring for landing, on speed AoA etc. everything seems to go normally, but just when I'm about to flare the aforementioned pitch down effect seems to be canceled since I'm experiencing a similar pitch effect but this time nose up. OK with this info and a hopefully non-corrupt trk file I hope the ED team can continue investigating. Somebody mentioned it could be related to PAC, that's possible, but again, I didn't see any change in the control input window, so my guess would be that the Centre of Gravity is shifting due to some erroneously changing FM parameter (eg. fuel distribution?). Thanks for looking into it ! A10CII Heras Quick Start Pitch down & up 2.trk 2
Yurgon Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Excellent track! Probably the shortest I've seen thus far to show the issue. Thanks a lot. It would indeed be great if this could be added to an existing report @BIGNEWY @f-18hornet 1

Avio Posted March 1 Posted March 1 (edited) I opened this topic again as the previous one was locked. I raised this problem up to this forum years ago, had seen many others griped about this same issue, but years later now in version II the problem still remains (very frustrating). Here’s a just observed issue that may hopefully help narrow down possible causes. In Afghanistan map, whenever the A10 was loaded with weapons, this pitch up problem always happen when crossing threshold, like others reported. BUT when on empty load, NO pitch up was observed. Can someone try and see if you see this too? By the way, such problem also occurs in some other maps, but surprisingly, Sinai map seems to give no such problem to the A10. Is there somehow a map-dependant cause behind? *** Correction - Just discovered that Tel Nof in Sinai does have that issue at Rwy 36. Not sure any others have that problem, though so far quite many others on that map seem to behave well. Edited March 1 by Avio 1 1
