b0bl00i Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Hello, There seems to be a problem with LOD or some view distance parameter, when I adjust my field of view in the cockpit using the zoom lever, items pop in and out of view, this is true for lights, objects, ground units, contrails etc. It also seems that depending on if I am looking at something straight ahead or using my peripheral when looking to the sides.. objects are popping in and out. I'm using stock settings, no mods, latest version of 2.7 open beta. 3440x1440 - aspect 2.33333333 (stock)

dorianR666 Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 pretty sure this is intentional. the reason why distant objects are not rendered is because performance. but when youre zoomed in, there is less area/objects to be rendered while the objects themselves also become larger on your screen, so it makes sense to render them, in such a situation. Schmidtfire Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 This is an old issue. Objects appearing and dissapearing at different zoom levels. It really messes with your awareness. We tested this a bit yesterday. A big building was not visible at default level. With the tiniest bit of zoom the building popped into view. Same goes for contrails up in the sky. I can buy that the detail should be way less at distance, but the basic shape of it should be there all the time. Obviously it is performance related, but it needs to work better. This together with the excessive amount of shimmering, flickering and AA are my biggest gripes with the current DCS engine. It even shows on official videos from Wags and in various trailers... 1
