It has been stated a few times now that they (ED) intends to release a new add-on every 9 months while upgrading the engine.

Seeing as we had the first video's of the Black Shark more then 2 years ago, ED should be pretty advanced with it's follow up. But nothing has been said about the next model except that they are working an a few. This raises the following question:

Can we really expect something by the end of 2009? Seeing as there is nothing definite in the works? No talks, no rumors, nothing!

Acording to the DCS web site yes if they keep their 9 month prommes. As for the rumors there are plenty of them jus not at top of descution, as DCS BS is so close to releas. It is my understanding that the A10a is close to finished and they will be spending the 9 months working on the new engin. The A10c project just needs to be converted to the new engine, tested and so on. I my self would have liked to see the AH64a come out befor the A10a (that may have ben the oraignal idea from DCS till the A10c project). As it stands now all eforts are on getting the BS demo out and the western version to reproduction. I realy hope that they can do the 9 month deal. But if not I will be ok with what I have. I hope this helps anser some of your questions.

Keep in mind I have no contact to DCS other than the website and this forum.

Not gonna happen but an F-111 would be mind blowing :D

I culd get my dad playing if they came out with the F-111. He flew the FB-111 in the USAF.

Does Apache support multicrew in multiplayer?

yes. it is the singel player that they are having problems with.

Yeah but the Mig29 and F-16 would take about that long to make as a standalone sim anyway because of the complexity of a fast jet FM etc if it were to be as complex as the KA50. This way you still get the benefits of flyable aircraft and updated features plus ED making some money. DX8 is quite old as far as F-16 sims is concerned but we're still stuck with it for a few more years yet.

"Promise" is such a loaded word ...

Acording to the DCS web site yes if they keep their 9 month prommes.

AFAIK there's no "promise" as such. I believe it's a tentative forecast ... of a time-line they'd like to stay close to if they can.

If we start to think in terms of promises and such it can potentially lead to all sorts of self induced pain

Cheers!

"A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft."

Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps

Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!

Although I don't speak for ED and I'm just using the information that is available public:

I believe the next module might be the A-10 since it seems more developed. However, i don't believe the next module would have the new engine.
