DCS usually have these when:

  • CPU or GPU or RAM is overclocked or undervolted
  • CPU is clogged with dust
  • PSU is too weak or dying

Recently, a user said Corsair iCue software was the cause of his DXGI... issues.

Today, someone got rid of these issues by renaming his/her "Saved Games\DCS\Mods" folder.

@FlappieEverything is turned up, otherwise I wouldn't have played DCS, there was no problem until yesterday. When I run DCS and run the mission, no problem. When I exit the mission and restart it without restarting DCS, worse frames appear immediately at the start of the mission, and when I do a stress test by moving the camera quickly around big cities CTD occur.

@Rueganer2002 Please try this:

  1. Empty "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS.openbeta"
  2. Empty "C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\metashaders2"
  3. Empty "C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo"
  4. Empty "C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache" (Windows might refuse to delete some files unrelated to DCS - just hit "Ignore")

@FlappieThank you for your prompt reply. I cannot find the NV_Cache folder. Today I removed and renewed the Nvidia driver with DDU. Could it be because the "NV_Cache" folder does not exist?

You should start by lowering your pagefile size. I've just seen it's about 155 GB! That's huge, and also totally useless. Plus you're having 64GB of RAM. Keep your pagefile size in auto mode.

I also see you're having some mods errors.

Please try this:

  1. Go to "C:\Users\username\Saved Games"
  2. Rename "DCS.openbeta" into "DCS.openbeta_backup" (do NOT delete this folder - it contains your custom controls)
  3. Start DCS and try to fly wihout crashing.
  4. If you're  still having crashes, run a "slow" DCS repair.

@Rueganer2002 - nv_cache is a hidden folder. open file explorer and paste this code in the URL bar.

Quote

%programdata%\nv_cache

The Nvidia control panel does have an option to turn off the shader cache. this may be why you do not have the folder. i do not have the folder.

@FlappieI had slowly increased the page file when the crashes started. Now I have completely deactivated MSI Afterburner. (After the crashes I no longer used it for overclocking, but only to control the fans)

Now I was able to fly the Hind on the Syria map for about two hours without any problems.

Today, for the first time since the introduction of Hind, I was able to finish the game normally without crashing.

I will do some more testing for the next few days and then share my results.

Oh, I didn't know. I couldn't understand it when people were telling me the folder was missing. Thank you. 👍

I'm glad to hear you can now enjoy the beast more than 20 minutes in a row! I have already seen MSI Afterburner be the cause of serious DCS troubles (link).

@Flappie - further investigation showed differing information. my old pc had a i7-7700k. it had the folder %ProgramData%\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache. new computer does not. the control panel describes it as

i do not use VR and did not with old pc either. so unknown discrepancy we are seeing. at some point nvidia changed location from %temp% to %programdata%
