Steel Jaw Posted August 14, 2021 Posted August 14, 2021 (edited) Hmm well I have had the Hornet since release, I have the Tomcat and Viper. So, will you like the F14? I doubt it if you dislike the Hornet so much. With the Tomcat you fly it ALL THE TIME, it’s not self trimming like the Hornet. Also you are not controlling the radar and navigation, instead relying on an unwieldy Jester who I find clumsy to control, even with Viacom. I personally love the Hornet, it was primarily responsible for removing the self loading baggage from the back seat, until the Growlers showed up mind you. As a (v) Hornet Driver I am the complete Master of my domain and destiny. As a (v) Hornet Driver I am the complete Master of my domain and destiny. I mean, if we want to throw the (v) shade, I generally wouldn't boast about being Master and Commander of the bouncy castle. The bug "driver" has transitioned from actually have to *gasp* fly the plane to being a passenger themselves. Oh sure, they gave them a stick to let them think they're in charge, but we both know the flight control computer is what's really making the decisions for where the monkey is and isn't permitted to go or do. I'm not even sure what one's supposed to do with all of the time savings, enough of the Hornet's systems are so automated I can't tell if MacD was afraid the computers would get offended, or if they thought the operator would get bored after anything more than three clicks. If they made it any less dangerous, they'd have to paint it day glow orange. Maybe I'm just salty because the least they could have done is put Tetris on one of the screens so I'd have something to kill time with while the jet was aviating and navigating for me. 2
jcdata Posted August 15, 2021 Posted August 15, 2021 I fly in DCS the FA-18C first, still love it. F-14A/B is the third plane module I buy, well, from an onlooker PoV, if you love planes, who doesn't love the turkey? Learning both planes are of different story. I do not get a human RIO to fly with for I never fly online, the Hornet has a lot of things to cater for, if and only if, you wish to learn everything. If you stick to getting to one thing at a time, say dogfighting, it is actually not that hard, but having fun or not, it varies. At least I find it is way better than the DCS F-15C. I am still learning to fly the F-14 and waiting for @Prez to complete his excellent "DCS F-14 Tomcat for Dummies" series (I am not rushing). After watching that 3-part dogfight tutorial series by GR, you can get the feeling of how to fly the plane, in case one does not want to spend the time downloading the module through free-to-try programme. As for the RAZBAM stuffs, I do not have any of them so I cannot comment. I only know some of the players out there have, shall I say, very strong feelings about this company.Do you the link to the dogfight tutorial?Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

Lurker Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 TLDR: The Tomcat is the sexiest plane ever and if you are reading this stop and go buy it now. Right now. It's the best. The end. Specs: Win10, i5-13600KF, 32GB DDR4 RAM 3200XMP, 1 TB M2 NVMe SSD, KFA2 RTX3090, VR G2 Headset, Warthog Throttle+Saitek Pedals+MSFFB2 Joystick.
Burt Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 I came straight to the last page on your post to give my honest opinion. I mainly BFM-Dogfight and I must say that the Tomcat is one of the best in DCS. I switch between the Hornet and the Tomcat frequently. Once you have put the time in with the Tomcat you will definitely enjoy it. But hard to say which one I like the best really... I love them both.
