@NineLine

here is a new track.

i stopped the test after 34min without any damage.

i will still try to create one after damage from shot

EDIT:
I tested it, both radiators were perforated and lost coolant, after the fluid was used up the engine started to die and then died too.

Sidenote.

It took about 5 minutes for the tanks to empty.
after this time the engine started to lose power quite fast, ~1min later it was dead

When the radiator shut-off handle is operated, both radiators are disconnected, aren't they? and the fluid remaining in the tanks should not keep the engine alive for 34 minutes, especially since it is no longer cooled.

Thanks I will check it out, as noted the new cooling system is coming so this may changed, but good to see if there is an issue now and make sure it doesnt carry over. I assume that if you shut both Rad cut off handles, that at the very least the fluid is no longer circulated, that said there is still fluid and its possible it would run longer than losing it all, but I will check it out.

It appears things have improved somewhat with the cooling system in the K4.

However, non-circulating coolant would be only marginally and very briefly better than no coolant at all and the end result would be the same.

Without heat dissipation via circulation through the radiators and airflow, the fluid would quickly heat up and create enough pressure to damage the cooling system and/or engine.

In the P-51, this occurs in seconds when airflow through the radiator is reduced by flying slow at high power. I am not suggesting this is correct either but it does point to how the two aircraft could be improved by making the two meet somewhere in the middle with regards to liquid cooled engine behavior.

Cheers!

I looks like K-4 is on far left side of milky way and P-51 is on far right side of it 🙂
